According to an article published this week on Time magazines website, your childs fastidiousness to religious practices may be a sign of mental illness.
Religion can be a source of comfort that improves well-being, begins the article by author Francine Russo. But some kinds of religiosity could be a sign of deeper mental health issues.
In the article titled Can Your Child Be Too Religious? Russo continues, If your child is immersed in scripture after school and prays regularly throughout the day, you may breathe a sigh of relief. Shes such a good girl. Or maybe not. Your childs devotion may be a great thing, but there are some kids whose religious observances require a deeper look. For these children, an overzealous practice of their family faith or even another faith may be a sign of an underlying mental health issue.
The article explains therapists report seeing children and teens who dive into excessive religiosity as an unhealthy coping mechanism, a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, thats no more spiritual than fanatical hand washing.
The article describes a type of OCD called scrupulosity, where children obsessively worry that they have committed blasphemy, been impure or otherwise sinned and warns against religious delusions or hallucinations that parents may be less attuned to when it occurs under the guise of faith.
Russo suggests parents evaluate.......

Facing Mecca, with their butts pointed at Heaven and their faces pointed at the fires of Hell. Hell being the realm of their leader. Sounds like a mental illness to me.
...another in a long line of jackass leftist women speaks...
Practicing and propagandizing liberalism is a form of mental illness, therefore I have zero interest in hearing the inmates of the media asylum tell me what mental illness may be associated with.
Depends on what it is that they are observing. Many “religious” practices have nothing to do with God, but are invented by man.
Liberals overzealous practice of their faith (lies) is a mental health issue.
I can see three, semi-legitimate arguments to this.
1) The child has adopted religion not out of faith, but out of what might be called “stimulus-response superstition”. Somewhat hard to describe, other than the child associating religion with sorcery or black magic. “If I pray to God, then he will kill that boy I hate or give me a million dollars.” Any legitimately religious adult would be pretty horrified with this line of thinking.
2) The child’s (probably single) parent is mentally ill, with religion as a template, and are trying to raise their child to be a hyper-religious sociopath. While such parents are thankfully pretty rare, Hollywood loves to pretend they are mainstream religious people.
3) The child themselves has an underlying medical condition that makes them mentally imbalanced, which can manifest itself in several ways, to include the child thinking they can heal themselves through intense prayer or even fanaticism. In older teens, along with several other symptoms, this can be diagnostic for schizophrenia.
It’s like this——if your child is a devout Christian or Jew, he’s a fanatic with a mental problem.
If, however, he is a Muslim learning about the joys of jihad, beheading, and honor killing, that’s evidence of tolerance and diversity in our society.
Communists said the same thing.
So much better to have a child that is homosexual and will die by the age of 50 from STD’s. That is mental health to these giants of intellect.
Thanks, I am happy with my praying kids...
Actually you are correct, the Koran teaches that allah lives in hell, stoking the fires with infidel.
This article is particularly relevant because states across the country are passing laws requiring mental health assessments for teenagers. These will eventually be used to single out Christian kids.
To publish this kind of shameless bigotry shows how extremely left Slime has gone. How very communist of them.
Mental problems also come from the practice of muslims marrying relatives “to keep the tribe strong.” They inbreed sociopaths.
Where this line is crossed is a subject of much discussion. Some consider any religion to be nuts.
Just trying to discredit families and the religion that is taught at home.
Thank you for the correction.
Islam and Wicca seem to qualify.
