In what the University of Notre Dames student newspaper is calling a historic decision, the University announced plans for a University- recognized homosexual student organization as well as a full-time student development staff position focused on LGBTQ issues.
The announcement was made as the result of a long review of the Universitys policies. According to the student newspaper, Fr. John Jenkins, the president of the university, said that the plan grows out of our mission as a Catholic university and is directed by that fundamental mission in a profound way.
But although the plan describes the student organization as acting consistent with Catholic teaching, Fr. Jenkins seemed to indicate some doubt about how closely it will be regulated:
Jenkins said the organizations roots in Church teaching had a broad practical impact, but these roots are not meant to serve as a basis for limitations the University could theoretically impose on the group. Its a rich teaching about the role of sexuality, about intimacy, about human relations, about responsibilities to the community, about relationships to the Church, Jenkins said. To put this in a Well you can do this, you cant do that, is to distort the issue.
Moreover, at least one Vatican official has expressed reservations about a Catholic college organizing any student activity centered on homosexuality. In 1992 Cardinal Pio Laghi, then-Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, opposed a homosexual club at Seattle University: At a Catholic university, support can be given only to Catholic teaching on homosexuality and Catholic pastoral practice to help homosexual persons morally, ascetically, and spiritually . . . The universitys responsibilities towards homosexual persons, doctrinally and pastorally, should find their expression in courses in Catholic theology.

I leave there almost 25 years ago, and this is what happens. First the Obama invitation, now this. NOT ONE F’ING DIME ND, NOT ONE DIME!!!!!!!!
Ronnie is turning over in his grave......
“If the ‘club’ was formed on the basis of understanding that it is indeed a sin then the ‘club’ could be a help through the understanding of truth and pure doctrine.”
That’s what I was thinking. If the club takes after the Catholic group Courage and helps Catholics lead chaste lives in obedience to church teachings, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing. I guess I still hope Notre Dame wins the national championship in football but when they award Obama and do things like this, my liking of their football tradition continues to wane.
Catholic fags . . what next? No wonder Alabama if going to kick their butt!
Well you can do this, you cant do that, is to distort the issue.
Yeah, those pesky Commandments.
Roll Tide
Notre Dame keeps using the word Catholic.
Yes and TCU rarely uses the word “Christian” to describe their university.
I think Bama will defeat ND as well....
I pray and hope I am wrong - better me be wrong than young people fall prey to this evil!
All I can say is “Roll Tide!!”
Wonder if ND will become the next penn state -
all crazed over football and turning a blind eye to
the evil that happens under their noses.
I was so thankful my child turned down the offer to attend there...hypocrites, all of ‘em.
Immortal souls are at risk in either case. That's the most important thing of all.
“Sexual disorder matters just as much as abortion”
No it doesn’t. You’re worried about immortal souls being “at risk”, when babies are being butchered. Not even remotely close.
if the goal of life is to know love and serve God, then shouldn’t the goal of this club be to help people follow God’s rules to become saints, not to foster a club that encourages sin?
Since abortion and sodomy are both hell-bent acts that --- unless one repents --- render one fit for the firepit, surely they are in the same league.
Sodomy has the potential to entrap and twist just as many souls; possibly more. Look how they're actively promoting perversions in the schools, from the middle schools to so-called Catholic Universities like ND and beyond:
Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
No it doesnt. Youre worried about immortal souls being at risk, when babies are being butchered. Not even remotely close.
I am sure that ALL except maybe you would agree that choosing to engage in homosexual sex is as much a sin as choosing to murder an innocents is. BOTH are condemned by God and BOTH lead to external damnation.
You need to get control of yourself before you are banned from FR for promoting the homosexual agenda with your sophistry and moral relative arguments.
Your moral relative argumentation method is flawed. Homosexual sex is never good regardless what bad you compare and contrast the depraved activity with.
Do not be confused. You would have to be in favor of promoting the disordered homosexual agenda to follow such absurd arguments as the one presented in response to the truth you posted.
