According to doomsday theorists, the mountain will open up and reveal an alien spaceship ready to whisk humans away to safety. That is, if humans can access the mountain. French officials have banned access to the mountain to New Age enthusiasts, sightseers and journalists, says Daily Mail in a Nov. 19 report. Access to the small village with the same name is also being blocked in an attempt to avert disaster. ...and what I think is the funniest line I've read in the news all year...
Those looking for refuge from the predicted Mayan Apocalypse should make alternate plans...

In other news, the French government will retreat from Vichy to Pic de Bugarach in mid-December.

Follow me. I've seen Close Encounters of the Third Kind". There's always a secret hidden path up the hill. I'll be on that spaceship for sure.

What makes it even worse is that they don’t know the difference between “alternate” and “alternative”.

People actually believe an alien spaceship is going to save them from the Mayan end of the world? Man, these people are stupid. There’s no such thing as aliens.

Jean-Pierre Delord, mayor of the village of Bugarach, he is not concerned about the doomsday prophecies.
Jean-Pierre will have the blood of all humanity on his hands......I hope he's happy with that.

Mayan's predicted the end of the world by ending their calendar on Dec. 21, 2012 No they didn't - their calendar is a cycling calendar - it just starts over. That is why it is depicted as a circle - when it "runs out", you start it again.
