You are correct on all points. I have reckoned that we live in the America that was founded and built on our Christian faith.

Have we become so godless and evil and lost collectively that we are no longer God’s chosen?

The reasons and values of America’s foundation are built on Christianity even if there was some debate about the Christian faith (as opposed to Deist) of the founders, the culture they were steeped in was strongly Christian.

I do think we have become a godless nation and I think that we are reaping the ‘rewards’ of that and that God is letting us wallow in our mire.

But we are NOT God’s chosen as a country, Christians (by adoption) and Jews (by covenant) are God’s chosen people, not this nation.

One of the saddest things to me is to see the secularism of the nation of Israel. I know several who lived over there and have read many other accounts of how there are many “Jews” (cultural not observant) who say things like “I don’t believe in God, but I believe in the nation of Israel”. They don’t see the connection.

The Old Testament in a nutshell....God blesses Israel, Israel gets stupid and follows after false gods, God withdraws His blessings, Israel is broken and repents and returns to God. Rinse and repeat.

While America is not God’s chosen people, I do think that God has blessed us infinitely in times past,possibly because in times past we were per capita a strongly Christian people, but like His chosen people (Israel)we have turned against Him and are following false gods. He is letting us find out the hard way so that we may be broken, repent and return to Him.

Just a side note, and kinda off topic, are you aware that Mormons teach that the Garden of Eden is in Missouri and is “Zion” (the New Jerusalem), that Mormons are “Israel” and Jews are ‘gentiles’ and that Christ will return and rule from Missouri and make the US Government an Mormon theocracy? They really do believe that America is God’s chosen people and that Jews have been abandoned by God.

That is a great verse Elsie- however, let’s not forget that Christians also went htorugh very very terrible tiems durign hte times of the romans when htey were tortured and slaughtered for entertainment- God allowed it- and it’s possible that God may allow very terrible times to befall us today too- I’m not sayign all is hopeless- but the reality is that even Christians suffer too- it rains on the just and the unjust alike- I’m also not sayign the God abandoned thsoe Christians who were skewered and roasted alive over burnign coals for entertainment, however, it does shake the faith just a little to think such evil can be perpetrated on peopel and God allowing htat evil to happen- (There are reports that Christians being roasted alive wetre still able to bless those who were killing htem despite the horror- let’s just hope is was a supernatural strengthening during those and coming horrible events becauswe left to ur own strengths, I fear I may fail

I prayed each day for 40 days and fasted from my favorite pastime during that time. I fasted from all food on election day and was prompted to pray each time I felt a hunger pang. But I have to admit, it felt somewhat flat, unlike previous years. It was almost as though the spirit was not aligned with this effort and it became just that...my effort.

Maybe the Lord is removing his hand of protection and blessing and evil is being giving more reign. All I know is that He is sovereign, and I trust.

It is exactly hwat I beleive is happening- Why shoudl God continue protectign those who as a whole kicked Him out of our country? Why shoudl God continue protecting those who love sin and who revel in hedonism and perversion? I am late responding to your post as am on vacation but wanted to thank you for your prayer thread. Most of us were already praying and happy to unite with others like minded.
It is truly disgusting to see how the anti Mormon posters have brought their filth to this particular prayer thread. Their hate slime just slides thru FR whatever opportunity arises. I am a Catholic with family members of just about any religious faith and/or belief and I respect their choice of worshiping God as they do mine. I was as proud to vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan as I was to vote for Ronald Reagan and Bush Cheney. All were the right leaders for their time and all were honest, decent, hard working, serious Americans committing themselves to serving this Republic to the best of their abilities. God bless Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for their hard work in this campaign.
