In a sermon posted on the web last Friday, Senior Pastor Frederick D. Haynes III of the Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas blasted his congregation and other pastors for their outrage over Obamas announcement, and, unflinchingly declared his support for the president gay community.
Haynes said of Obama:
He swore to uphold, protect, and defend the Constitution not the Bible, but the Constitution of the United States. He is not the pastor of the United States, he is the President of the United States. And for the first time in the history of this nation we have a president who has dared to use his position to make the democratic promise available not just for a select few, but for everyone.Haynes went on to express disbelief at the overwhelmingly negative reaction of black churches to Obamas new stance, demanding an explanation from his flock.
.. It really blows my mind how outraged you are. You are so outraged over what the president said. First of all, take a chill pill. Take a deep breath. Everythings going to be all right. You will not lose your 501(c)(3) if you do not marry same-sex couples. But Ive got a question for you. Why are you so upset? Why did it bother you so? Why were you so emotional that you had to clothe your anger with the Bible and justify your bigotry with scripture? Why did you have to do it?
Have you ever read the Gospel and heard Jesus say anything about homosexuality? Black folk cant even deal with homosexuality because we got issues with sexuality. And because we got issues with sexuality we cant have a healthy discussion about homosexuality. Why, why do you get so upset? Why are you so mad at the president?

Senior Pastor Frederick D. Haynes III of the Friendship-West Baptist Church supports Obama....
Haynes demonstrates that he places black-racism above God.
His congregation is going to either shrink dramatically, or change dramatically (by an influx of residents from the Oak Lawn area of Dallas).
If his congregation has a lick of sense, and any knowledge of the Bible, they will either toss him out, or vote with their feet. The “minister” has obviously been listening to the devil instead of Christ.
Picture says it all!
Picture says it all!
Methinks he doth protest too much....
Haynes III apparently is pro-abortion.
I saw a story posted here a couple of weeks ago about another Obama-supporting pastor (in Illinois I believe) who had embraced same-sex marriage, and his flock had deserted him. Needless to say, his church hit hard times and he was begging for help from the other black churches.
Why are you so mad at the president?.
Note last 3 1/2 years.
I don’t care who it is or where it is...if I feel someone is preaching or trying to push onto me their own beliefs whether or not I agree with them I would walk out. We go to church to pray... we get enough politics every single day of the week. Church should be the sanctuary and no matter who believes what the church should not TRY to preach to everyone.. just take control and walk out.
“You will not lose your 501(c)(3) if you do not marry same-sex couples.”
Have to apply the slippery-slope logic and say “for the time being.”
Not in the Gospel, but I suggest the pastor read John 8:11. Since Jesus, being God, hates all sin in equal measure, his command to the woman caught in adultery to 'go and sin no more' covers all sin, including the sin of homosexuality made abundantly clear through God's Word.
I guess Romans Chapter 1 and the Sodom and Gomorrah account don’t appear in this jerk’s Bible.
