The congregation at Seattle’s Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church gave the Rev. Tim Clark a standing ovation Sunday when he announced that the parish would not gather signatures for a referendum to repeal same-sex marriage.
The parish became the sixth in Seattle to opt out of the petition drive for Referendum 74 that has been endorsed and foisted on parishes by Archbishop J. Peter Sartain.
“I am happy to report that Our Lady of the Lake parish-oners have been overwhelmingly and, thus far, unanimously supportive of the decision I made NOT to gather signatures in support of this Referendum,” Clark wrote in response to an e-mail.
“The standing ovation experienced during one of the Masses says less about me and much more about the health of this parish. I only wished the archbishop could have experienced the sustained applause — the ‘sensus fidelium’ — of the people. He needs to listen to this ‘voice.’ That is my prayer.”
Other parishes to shun the signature drive have includes St. James Cathedral, St. Joseph Church, St. Mary’s Church, St. Patrick Church and Christ Our Hope Catholic Church.
In several parishes, pastors have said that gathering signatures against marriage equality would, in the words of the Rev. Michael Ryan of St. James Cathedral, “prove hurtful and seriously divisive in our community.”
Archbishop Sartain, in a letter that Clark will place in his parish bulletin next week, asked the Catholic faithful in Western Washington to support Referendum 74.
Opponents of marriage equality need to gather 120,577 valid voter signatures by June 6 to block the state’s new same-sex marriage law from taking effect and put the issue on November’s ballot.

He supported a state constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman, like OH, VA, FL, etc. now have. A constitutional convention was called and the liberal legislature prevented the amendment from appearing on the ballot (for fear that it would pass). It was disappointing, to say the least.

When the Pope John Paul II was in Fulda, during his visit to Germany (from 15th to 19th November 1980) he was asked some questions by a group of people: one question was about the 3rd secret of Fatima and another one about the "near future" of the Church. One of the people present documented the exchange. Names of witnesses are at the editorial office of the magazine "Vox fidei". Below is reported the part of the text from two questions, published (in Italian) in that magazine (issue #10 - 1981).
Question: "What about the third secret of Fatima? It already should have been published in 1960".
Answer (of the Holy Father): "Due to its shocking content and so as not to allow the global power of communism to interfere with the affairs of the Church, my predecessors gave confidential information in a diplomatic way. In addition, it should be enough for every Christian to know what follows: when you read that oceans will flood whole continents, that millions of men will die very suddenly in a few minutes... if this is known, it isn't really necessary to claim the publication of this secret... Many people want to know it just for curiosity and sensationalism: but they forget that "knowing" involves also responsibility... but they just want to satisfy their own curiosity. The trials could be reduced through your and our prayers, but they can't be (anymore) avoided, because a true renewal of the Church can take place only this way... just as it has already occurred many times that the Church rose up again through blood. It won't be different either this time. Let's be strong and let's get ready, having faith in Christ and in his Mother. Let's pray much and often the Holy Rosary".

At the moment I knew Obama was elected I made a decision to put a daily Rosary on the Daily Readings thread. Many people have come to pray the Rosary because of it......I’m not trying to boast — just encourage more people to say the Rosary daily.
I attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for a few months in the early ‘50s. At that time it was full of airdales from the nearby Sand Point NAS. Very conservative.
They are probably spinning in their graves.
I was in a coffee cafe with a baptist girl sipping coffee when my audio bible on my Ipad came on Jeremish 31. I did not touch it. We both looked it up. Second coming around the corner.
Also remember Divine Mercy is for the last days as told to St. Faustina by our Lord.

usually parishes serve a local area...in cases of very liberal parishes, those who love God usually either decide to join a born again protestant church nearby, attend the SSPX church in their area, or go to another parish.
Change the priest, and they will come back.
