What you’re saying is false. The congregation in question is using a form of property ownership that is illegal in the Catholic Church for parishes.
The diocese has explicitly stated again and again that it is not interested in seizing this parish’s assets. \
The canonical dispute dragged on for years. Finally, then Archbishop Burke called the priests back to the diocese since the parish council was insisting on usurping the pastor’s role in the parish. The council then decided to call in a priest without permission. Naturally it turned out that the priest had multiple issues besides his disobedience. The parish is sliding towards religious oblivion - all in the name of the almighty dollar!
While it may be unusual for the United Stated, I thought this form was the norm for Europe.
