A Review of Mark Levin’s New Book Ameritopia from a Biblical Perspective

First of all let me tell you how much I like Mark Levin, who is known by many conservative media icons as “the Great One”. I personally was totally looking forward to Mark’s new book and knew that it would be an excellent read or listen if you have an IPod.

Mark starts out in his new book looking at the spectrum of philosophic views and utopian ideals of six men, their published works and ideologies, Plato, Thomas Moore, Thomas Hobbs, Vladimir Lenin, John Locke, Charles Secondat Baron de Montesquieu and the Founding Fathers. Each look gives great insight into how these men and their ideals have highly influenced people throughout mankind’s fallen history. It also reveals the utter bankruptcy of their delusional ideals and theories to manage fallen man in a fallen world. These authors and philosophers seek to answer the age old dilemma of fallen man from a subjective frail human point of view (Gen. 3, Rom. 1:18-21).

The “Utopians” – as Levin refers to these secular philosophers are - ever seeking to put humpy dumpty back together again by means of a strong despotic ruler or a elite ruling class.

They are ever seeking to control man’s yearning for freedom and their unbridled passions by shackling them to confining and oppressive laws, regulations and restrictions in which these despots seek to achieve their “utopian” delusion. How tragic it is to think of the countless millions who have been subjected to these godless delusions over the centuries only to find endless wars and oppression among the sons of Adam. These godless masses throughout the centuries have all had their God given freedoms removed from them and replaced with the shackles of tyranny and oppression. Communism, national socialism, socialistic secular democracies, oppressive monarchies’ all have been derived from the delusional utopian visions of godless men. From Nebuchadnezzar to the Caesars to Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Hirohito, Castro, Saddam Hussein and Barak Obama these godless men are all delusional utopians seeking to reach the pinnacle of perfection with a host of ideologies that cover the philosophical spectrum. Levin points out that Utopianism - in the end - is nothing more than despotism.

Levin then looks at others like Locke, Montesquieu and our Founding Fathers who sought to be more realistic and have chosen to follow the absolutes of the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God. Locke states that, “Natural Law rules over all so all are equal”. It is the adhering to the Laws of Nature and of Natures God’s that all men are created equal and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Though Levin does not state this in his book, the adherence to the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God is a good practice but at its heart is also a utopian philosophy. The ideal - that conservatism and the adherence to the Laws of Nature can establish a utopian state – is also very flawed in its theory, for we as fallen men live in a fallen and fractured world. This objective reality needs to be pointed out to Levin, Limbaugh and others that the “conservative utopia dream” is also a delusion. This conservative delusion is continually preached by the elite and heavy hitters in the conservative media to the masses. This delusional conservative utopian perspective is what give countless conservative American’s a false hope in light of the future establishment of the Almighty God’s Kingdom of Heaven.

“Natural Law rules over all so all are equal”

Levin does a great job pointing out the two camps of human reasoning (subjective and objective) and points out the contrasts between objective political reasoning and subjective political reasoning. To the Utopian, the Laws of Nature are tyrannical. To the adherer, the Laws of Nature, give great freedom and liberty. To the Utopian, human God given rights are to be sacrificed for the betterment of the state and its despotic leader. To the adherer to the Laws of Nature, the government is to be subject to the Laws of Nature and its people. To the Utopian, the state is to be served. To the Adherer of Natural Laws, government is to serve the people. In the end, tyranny and poverty are always the end result of the Utopian political state, while in a society that honors the Laws of Nature, prosperity, personal freedom and liberty with personal responsibility abound!

At the end of the book Levin looks at the regulating of America since the 30’s and a look at Obama gone wild. What is most tragic about this book and its author is that - in the end -Levin offers absolutely no hope for America, mankind and their future. Levin optimistically states, we can only hope that the American people will rise up before it is too late and reclaim America. Tragically, Levin himself offers up a “hail Mary” bomb into the end zone in which there are no receivers, no solutions and no answers for his readers in this fallen world. Like it or not Levin himself is a conservative utopian seeking to answer the dilemmas of this fallen world with conservatism, a relative faith in “a God” and ETERNAL optimism.

Judeo/ Christian relativism is the most damnable heresy in are world today. It looks so good and noble but in the end there is absolutely no RIGHTEOUS PERFECTION which is demanded by Almighty God and no Savior.

Tragically, Levin is not alone in this camp and his conservative contemporary preachers optimistically preach to the masses the virtues of conservatism without any REALITY in their utopian vision. Judeo/ Christian relativism is the most damnable heresy in are world today. It looks so good and noble but in the end there is absolutely no RIGHTEOUS PERFECTION which is demanded by Almighty God and no Savior (Rom. 10:2-4). In this conservative utopian ideal there is absolutely NO REALITY to the realities of time, no ETERNAL comprehension of man’s future, no RIGHTEOUSNESS of Almighty God and mankind’s individual and personal accountability to their Creator in Spirit and ABSOLUTE TRUTH (Matt. 7:21-23, Rom. 3:23, 6:23, 10:2-4, Eph. 2:8-9). The conservative today DOES NOT truly want to acknowledge the REALITIES of Almighty God’s Word and His redemptive remedy for ALL mankind, which is ONLY found in the Person of Jesus Messiah (John 3:16-16,36, Acts 4:12, Rom. 10:2-4). They may acknowledge these truths, but they DO NOT possess them.

The REALITY of this hour is that since Adam’s fall and Babel, ALL political and spiritual ideologies (secular and conservative) and their utopian philosophies have FAILED miserably. All these utopian ideals which have dominated fallen mankind’s quest for peace IN A FALLEN WORLD will finally climax to the pinnacle of their failures during a time called the Day of the Lord. It will be under the LAWLESS despot called the Anti Christ that tyranny and oppression will reach its zenith. The final utopian’s ideal and vision for this fallen world will be horrific and EXPONENTIALLY lawless (2 Thess. 2:3-12, Rev. 13). It will be at the end of this seven year period called the Day of Wrath that Almighty God the Son, Creator and King will come out of Heaven’s glory and crush this global state rebellion and then the Messiah himself will establish His 1000 year reign on earth in RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE (Dan. 7:13-14, Rev. 19:11-21). It will be under this reign of the Creator that a fallen world will prosper as never before (Isa.11:1-10, 35). Jesus Messiah - the Designer and Creator - will enforce the adherence to the Laws of Nature and will rule with a rod of iron (Rev. 19:15).

It will be at the end of this seven year period called the Day of Wrath that Almighty God the Son, Creator and King will come out of Heaven’s glory and crush this global state rebellion and then the Messiah himself will establish His 1000 year reign on earth in RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE.

It will be during this 1000 year period - that those who survive the seven year tribulation and remain after Messiah’s judgment of nations - will thrive (they and their offspring) and enjoy Almighty God’s creation and freedom as NEVER before (Matt. 13:30,38-43, 49-50)! This is the TRUE utopian vision that all of Adam’s fallen race should embrace for this is Almighty God’s utopian REALITY which is to come upon the earth!

What is EXPONENTIALLY amazing is at the end of Messiah’s 1000 year reign, Almighty God will let out the Mastermind of delusion and lawlessness (i.e., Lucifer) to test the hearts of men. It will be at the end of this 1000 year reign of unimaginable prosperity, health, freedom and RIGHTEOUSNESS that unsaved men of this time will abandon REALITY and follow Lucifer in the world’s final rebellion (Rev. 20:7-10). These rebels - which are as the sand of the sea - who have experienced the Fruit of Righteousness will long to be free from it! These rebellious masses - in the end – will follow Satan in his perpetual delusion to live a godless existence without the ETERNAL Creator of Heaven and Earth (Rev. 20:7-10). This final rebellion will be crushed and Almighty God will then institute the ETERNAL estate (Rev. 20:10-15, 21-22:1-5). This ETERNAL estate will consist of a NEW Heavens and Earth (Isa. 65:17, Rev. 21, 22:1-5) and the ETERNAL prison called the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:11-15). In the end the personal choices of an individual will cement their ETERNAL destinies. For one, the ETERNAL fellowship in PEACE and RIGHTEOUSNESS with their Creator and Savior (Rev. 21, 22:1-5) and for the other, an ETERNITY of suffering the RIGHTEOUS judgment of Almighty God in ETERNITY’S ETERNAL prison (Rev. 20:11-15).

The utopian dream my dear friend is ONLY to be found in the reality of Almighty God’s solution for fallen man. Almighty God has made provision in His dear Son for all to enjoy His ETERNAL utopia in RIGHTEOUSNESS and PEACE.

There are NO utopias here in this fallen world (conservative or secular). The utopian dream my dear friend is ONLY to be found in the reality of Almighty God’s solution for fallen man. What will you choose? Will you follow the voices and delusional theories of fallen men or will you believe your Creator and Redeemer and enter into to the joy that He has so prepared for all (1 Cor. 2:9, Rev. 22:1-5). It is Almighty God’s pure desire that all would come to the saving knowledge of His dear Son Jesus Christ for that is what this life is all about (John 3:16-17, 1 Tim 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9).

Mark, a most excellent read my dear friend... but you need to know the Savior (the Messiah of Israel) of the world to know what true utopianism is all about! May it be so!

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

See his Conservative Manifesto in Liberty and Tyranny for practical ways to implement Constitutional government.

I would not use relativism as a pseudo-descriptor for Judeo/Christian yet, when used as part of a Judeo/Christian apologetic, it is damnable heresy.

Relativism is the evil spawn of Marxism applying the Hegelian dialectic.
