For those interested, the Greek words are ‘sodomite’ and ‘catamite’. Pitchers and catchers.

I was wondering if there was consensus amongst our Greek scholars. Do y’all think the Committee on Bible Translation did right ?

They should lay the whole verse out there, for context. My New King James uses a footnote "catamites". According to dictionary.com, that means "a boy or youth having a sexual relationship with a man".

That's a little different than straight man-on-man sex. It's worse.

The whole verse, New King James, is:

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites,

So it distinguishes between pederasts and homosexuals (I don't know why), but they're in the same boat. And verse 10 says that thieves and drunkards and the greedy and the extortioners and such are in the same boat. They're all condemned, unless they straighten up.

In general, if you're a lowlife, you better straighten up.

Pitchers and catchers.

Now that you've put it in "sports" terms, I can fully understand! ;-)
