>> During my two years at seminary, I learned about religion and philosophy but there were no biblical studies. I attended daily mass and monthly confession but, alas, there was no teaching on forgiveness for sin. <<

I will state categorically that this person is a bald-faced liar. There is no way on Earth that a seminarian wouldn't learn about absolution, since he is required to communicate it.

As to the plainly ridiculous claim that he didn't get any scripture studies: A quick check on the Maynooth curriculum confirms that students learn in their first year alone:

Revelation and Faith ("Revelation" is how Catholics will sometime refer to entire corpus of scripture.)
Introduction to Biblical Greek
Introduction to Biblical Hebrew
Introduction to Ecclesiastical Latin
Scripture Studies 1: Eden to Exile
Scripture Studies 2: New Testament

Plus, they are required to perform the Holy Offices, which are scripture readings every three hours. Not to mention, of course, the fact that their theology courses are biblical as well.

Why do Calvinists feel they must slander Catholicism?

There’s a total of twelve courses on scripture alone in the Maynooth divinity curriculum.... plus of course the rest of the theology courses are based on scripture.

They’re Protestants. They have to lie.

“Let the people be the judge;—their award reveals a great fact; truth is not equal to the exigences of the Protestant cause, falsehood is its best friend. ...for truth is no aid to the Protestant Tradition.” (John Henry Newman, Lectures on the present position of Catholics in England, 166-167)

Why do Roman Catholics think it is “slander” to point out the differences between Rome and Christianity?

Christians are tasked by God to preach the Gospel in truth.

The word of God says to believe in Jesus Christ as God and Savior and be saved.

It says nothing about the zillion errors Rome foists off as ersatz Christianity, such as Mary being a “co-redeemer” or priests as “another Christ.”
