The Republican Party over decades has served as an ineffectual doorstop towards a door swinging wide open to limiting the freedom of religion and approaching outright persecution.

Experts agree that five stages of a coming persecution can be identified:

(1) The targeted group is stigmatized; its reputation is attacked, possibly by mocking it and rejecting its values.

(2) Then the group is marginalized, or pushed out of the mainstream of society, with deliberate efforts to limit and undo its influence.

(3) The third stage is to vilify the group, viciously attacking it and blaming it for many of society’s problems.

(4) Next, the group is criminalized, with increasing restrictions placed on its activities and eventually even its existence.

(5) The final stage is one of outright persecution.

Many commentators believe the United States is now exiting stage three, and moving into stage four. Canada is firmly in Stage 4.

**In his remarks to several U.S. Bishops meeting with him Saturday, Pope Benedict XVI made similarly emphatic warnings about the U.S. The pope told the bishops that “the seriousness of the challenges which the Church in America, under your leadership, is called to confront in the near future cannot be underestimated.”**

BTTT!

There’s always going to be some from every faith that realize that it just isn’t possible to alter the nature of the instution of marriage by majority vote. It was probably a mistake to involve the state, at least in modern times, as folks have been conditioned to think the state defines marriage. Now we are going to see the state punish those who aren’t going to go along with whatever it decides to call marriage for that year.

“it is a war”

Then start acting like it. Start excommunicating the pro-abortion and homo-marriage CINOs like Governor Martin OWEmally of Maryland.

He added: “The obstacles to Christian faith and practice raised by a secularized culture also affect the lives of believers.” In the interview published today, Cardinal Burke declared that “it is a war”

Yawn. This is yet more PC ambiguity from the usual suspects. Our gathering enemy is "secularized culture?" Far be it from a bishop to actually name names. It should be obvious that the barbarians are at the gates. What we need from the bishops is credible leadership in organizing a defense.

This is very true. This is one reason I am so grateful to have the honor of singing purely Christian Christmas music at many secular venues this Christmas season in a major US city. I will sing about Christ until the day I die to as many people as possible. They can jail me, reject me, taunt, and kill me. I will never stop.

Either Christians form effective political action groups or the Left will make us “domestic terrorists” and seriously harm us like all the commies before them have done.

Amorality is deadly to the moral.

Big Difference though.

Americans of Christian faith will more likely go on the defensive.

I second it also, but there will be a angry blow-back or fighting back.

In the interview published today, Cardinal Burke declared that “it is a war” and “critical at this time that Christians stand up for the natural moral law.”

My daughter taught in a Texas Catholic K-8 school. All of the teachers and the principal voted for Obama. Her class was the **only** class whose children did **not** watch the inauguration of Obama. ( She did not renew her contract.)

I wonder if the teachers in this “Catholic” school attended our nation's system of socialist and godless schools and then went on to earn teaching degrees from Marxist infested socialist-funded and godless colleges and universities.

By the way....I read that there is a movement among believing and faithful Catholic families to start their own independent schools. Families get together and hire a teacher. Seems like a good idea to me.

Ok boys and girls, the neverending thread is fun, the debate between this splinter and that beam can be cool, but THIS is the Big One, the Real Fight. We ALL need to line up together. The division between sheeps and goats is here. We need to kick the secular humanist athesitic scum OUT of office, every one. Never again another Barney Frank, NEVER. Never again another Barrack Hussein Obama, NEVER!

Agreed. So now what?

We have been nice. We need to be good. Our ancestors of the Faith were NOT NICE!!

Jesus was not nice. Nice guys don’t go around insulting the religious leaders of the day and tearing up the Temple market. He was Good.

Don’t play nice anymore. It is better to be fed to the lions while proclaiming Christ than go into the outer darkness of Hell afraid of offending someone.

As a Protestant I can see a time coming in the not too distant future where we will be holding secret services in homes.

I am not sure what Catholics will do, I think they have to have services on holy ground.....not too sure about that.
