First gay man to be ordained in Presbyterian Church USA since historic vote
Star Tribune ^ | September 25 2011 | Rose French

A Wisconsin man is expected to become the first openly gay candidate ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) since the church opened ordination to gay candidates earlier this year.

...“It’s hard to believe it’s finally happening,” Anderson said in a released statement on Friday. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) officially began allowing the ordination of openly gay and lesbian candidates on July 10.

n May, Twin Cities Presbyterians cast the historic vote to allow openly gay and lesbian members to be ordained ministers. Presbyterian leaders say the Twin Cities vote was the action needed to end the 2.1 million-member denomination’s national ban on gay clergy.

The denomination, based in Louisville, Ky., is the latest mainline Protestant group to move toward accepting same-gender relationships.

This is commonly referred to as a Magisterium of One, a concept furthered by John Knox et al who are now experiencing the fruits of their beliefs.

Interesting you bring up John Knox, the founder of Presbyterianism. There was a link on another thread to John Knox's “Blast of the Trumpet against the Monstrous Regiment of Women

... And therefore, I say, that of necessity it is that this monstiferous empire of women (which amongst all enormities that this day do abound upon the face of the whole earth, is most detestable and damnable) be openly revealed and plainly declared to the world, to the end that some may repent and be saved.

... For who can deny but it is repugnant to nature, that the blind shall be appointed to lead and conduct such as do see? That the weak, the sick, and impotent persons shall nourish and keep the whole and strong? And finally, that the foolish, mad, and frenetic shall govern the discreet, and give counsel to such as be sober of mind? And such be all women, compared unto man

...."Women are removed from all civil and public office, so that they neither may be judges, neither may they occupy the place of the magistrate, neither yet may they be speakers for others."

....he further declaration of the imperfections of women, of their natural weakness and inordinate appetites! I might adduce histories, proving some women to have died for sudden joy; some for impatience to have murdered themselves; some to have burned with such inordinate lust, that for the quenching of the same, they have betrayed to strangers their country and city;and some to have been so desirous of dominion, that for the obtaining of the same, they have murdered the children of their own sons, yea, and some have killed with cruelty their own husbands and children

... to repress the inordinate pride of women

Quite toxically misogynist.

And now they've decided to become pervert friendly....

Actually, it’s caused because they abandoned tradition which said “God says marriage is between a man and a woman”

Actually, it started with abandoning Inerrancy in the 1920s. Abandoning the authority of Scripture soon followed. This is only the logical result of German Higher Criticism (of the Scriptures) that was popular at that time.

This put scholarship over the Bible (Man over the Scriptures) and has resulted in what you see.

In 1973, we, The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) formed when Mainline Presbyterian church funded communist rebels in Central and South America with our tithes. We made a Pro-Life plan in response to the promotion of Abortion (another issue of the time) and went back to the Westminster Confessions of Faith and to the Inerrancy of Scripture.

We believe Marriage is Ordained by God only for One Woman and One Man covenanted before God.

Flee the Liberal Churches as fast as you can. The tide is rising fast - flee to the high ground quickly. For the days are coming when men will not listen to reason any more.

Funny you mentioned that. Just like Eve, another woman plunged the Episcopal denomination, not only under Homosexuality, but soon thereafter into Paganism - bringing in the so called Earth Goddess Gaia.

In vain do we ignore the Scriptures warning "do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man"

The trouble here is that Folks have Abandoned the Authority and Inerrancy of the Scriptures and fallen headlong into Error.

I strongly agree with what you wrote aboout the folly of giving up Christian truth for sexual disorder.

Think of the fact that Christians for millenia had been in complete agreement about sexual intercourse between husband and wife being a procreative act. Christians thus agreed on the reasoning of why contraception (Onanism) is intrinsically wrong: because it's deliberately twisting sex away from its connection to natural fertility.

That didn't change until less than a centry ago: the first Christian church to officially approve contraception was the Anglicans, who turned that crucial corner at their 1930 Lambeth Conference.

In a way, it IS suprising that churches which gave way and approved deliberately anti-procreative forms of sex, took 80 years to get the point of approving sodomy. What took them so long?

Yeah, ordain a minister that you wouldn’t want babysitting your children. What could go wrong? Something about “being beyond reproach”.

Pollster1: “So long as we all recognize that the Bible is the final authority, merely having these temptations is not a barrier to serving God,” I’m happy with him. “

That is both naive and not scriptural. Why did Paul give guidance about church leaders? Were they supposed to be any believer, or we they held to a much higher standard than regular members? Answer: they were supposed to be held to a much higher standard. For example, they could only have one wife, not be divorced, and even their children had to be well behaved.

Why? Because you don’t pick people who are struggling with homosexuality or other serious sins in positions of leadership. That is exactly why so many churches today are in the shape they are in. They have put wolves in charge of the flock! A truly Christian homosexual would certainly realize this and not put his needs ahead of the church.

It may not seem fair to block a homosexual from leading a church, but this isn’t about fairness. Church leaders are supposed to be the best of the best with a track record of resistance to temptation. This is something one shouldn’t take any chances with. It’s that serious, because the health of the flock is dependent on who is selected to minister to it!

Next, “Do you, Mr. Sodomite, take Miss Labradoodle to be your lawfully wedded wife, to groom her, pet her, and sodomize her gently?”

These queers are sickos.

Being a member of that denomination is the tradition that I was referring to.

I think I wouldn’t call them that — they don’t have any standards at all to follow, unlike say the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They are just a dying old queen’s club.

Those photos prove the title of their organization should be retitled to Lesbyterian.

I agree. They should also drop the term Church. By posing as Christians and Presbyterians they do both a bad service

well, his posts are all fiction and jokes. But the celebration of gay marriage among the Presbyterians is serious. They really have come out.
