Why Did 8 People Turn 180 Degrees on Abortion Stance in Seconds?
Christian Post ^ | 09/19/2011 | Alex Murashko

The evangelist producer of an online documentary to be released this upcoming Sunday has high hopes that the film showing eight pro-abortion young adults change to a pro-life stance in just moments after being asked a question goes viral.

The 33-minute documentary called “180” is produced by Ray Comfort and his ministry, Living Waters. Even after watching the film’s trailer on it’s website, viewers are left with no clues as to what question was asked or what exactly prompted eight people to change their views on abortion.

Comfort told The Christian Post that in the process of making the film he asked a question that was “so powerful that it not only changed the people’s minds about abortion, and made them do a 180 (degree turn in viewpoint), but it made them do a 180 when it comes to their own eternal salvation.”

When asked by CP, the preacher who is also known for challenging atheists in one-on-one debates and street preaching in Huntington Beach, Calif., did not reveal the question he asked. Comfort said that with the help of Christians, "180" has a good chance of going viral.

“The reason this film is unique is that we have eight young people who change their minds from being pro-abortion to pro-life in a matter of seconds because of one question I ask them,” he said. “On the video you will actually see a neo-Nazi, a very nasty neo-Nazi, named Steve, who is anti-Christian, an anti-God atheist, who is probably pro-everything evil, loves Adolf Hitler, hates blacks, hates Jews, hates America, do a complete 180 to the point to where you actually like the guy because he starts talking about his own eternal salvation.”

Comfort said the documentary is very gripping and captivating, and as one pastor who has seen the film said, “You don’t watch 180, you experience it.”

“For me to tell you what the question is would steal your experience because you’ve got to see the facial expressions change,” Comfort said. “You’ve got to see the people, when they are asked a question, change from one of a hard look in their facial expression to suddenly, a light going off as they change their minds and realize how evil abortion is just with the one question.”

The video for the movie was initially intended to be a free DVD supplement for a book Comfort wrote called, “Hitler, God, and the Bible.”

“The video went in a direction I never intended it to,” he said. “It became a pro-life movie, much to our surprise.”

The documentary starts off by showing “14 college students who haven’t got a clue who Adolf Hitler is,” Comfort said. “It swings from there into the pro-life message in a very subtle and interesting way to the point where you can not look away because of the scenario where the people are placed in the video.” In addition to the film being available for free online at 180movie.com beginning Sunday, Comfort plans to do give 200,000 DVD copies of the film to 100 colleges in the U.S.

“We are absolutely delighted that finally Christians can do something concrete when it comes to this very emotional and divisive issue of abortion,” he said. “They can just give this video out to someone.”

Comfort related to the CP how some YouTube videos, such as “Charlie bit my finger,” can garner phenomenal viewing number in the hundreds of millions. He sees no reason his film can not have the same kind of astronomical numbers and result in a major social shift.

“We’d like to see this film go viral because if you can change what a person believes about abortion you are going to change the way they vote, and that can change the direction of this nation and this nation surely can be turned back to God,” he said. “A lot of people have (already) said this will turn the nation back to God with His help.”

Surely he doesn't mean to say that, up until now, there has been nothing "concrete" a Christian could do about the abortion issue. Perhaps he means "concrete and requiring almost no effort or risk."

Gosh, put that way, it sounds a bit pathetic ...

I don’t get it.

The Neo Nazi -pro abortion link...Nazis themselves likely aborted freely given how they killed in general but today’s extremist groups in that direction tend to not be pro abortion

I have in my life actually known a few folks in the Neo Nazi cum Christian Identity camp...very dangerous folks...Tim McVeigh types

they were anything but pro abortion....very anti abortion though I doubt they would have cared much were it Jews or “mud” races..as they call them...Jews being their main focus

but they were hardly Emily’s List types..lol

good luck though if it changes hearts

best way is to raise them right with a conviction on this issue from getgo...it’s worked for us so far

Meh. All the people in the trailer that were “changed 180” looked like they didn’t have much conviction either way. If some NARAL activist worked on them for a few minutes they’d be back to pro-abort. This whole secretive build-up seems phoney.

What question could have made those kids change their minds so quickly? I wonder if the same question would work on adults.

Personally, I consider Christians to be the primary obstacle to stopping the abortion holocaust in this country. If they would quit compromising in the political arena it would end, post haste.

This is what happened to me. A Catholic friend changed me from pro-choice to pro-life in less than a minute by asking me just a few questions.

That was 22 years ago and I’ve never looked back.

In WHAT direction?

'National Socialism' is a product of the statist LEFT. Just because it is not as far left as Marxism does not make it 'right-wing'.

How do you find 14 college students who don’t know who Adolf Hitler is ?

Are they brain dead?

...I did not say right wing for a reason.

I said “that direction”...purposely so folks can make up their own mind in order to avoid lectures like i got from you..and it worked well obviously eh?

personally, I don’t think extremist ideology dovetails into a nice linear or circular paradigm

they are all a mix of some rightist and leftist at both ends

nationalism is more often a rightist trait unless under pressure then leftists will use it too

and yes no question the uber nationalist Nazi party also believed in big government control of the economy

people like ideas neat and clean and it’s just not always possible

like we have this common thought here that GOP has always been great and conservative and Democrats back to their origin have always been bad and liberal

and that is not correct either...it’s much muddier than that

guess I don’t need to say I’m not much of a Beck fan...Glenn, not Jeff

I’ve seen it. Powerful stuff. I’m already anti-abortion, so I didn’t turn a 180, but I won’t look at German Shepherd owners the same way again.

Sadly, I expect that you are probably correct.

ok so what is the question?

Would you allow a german shepherd to kill its puppies as they were born?
