Top leader of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Moderator Cynthia Bolbach, addressed the first national gathering of More Light Presbyterians since the denomination began allowing the ordination of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
...Meeting at Third Presbyterian Church in Rochester, New York, September 2-4, Moderator Bolbach encouraged the listeners to be the church by working together. Using the biblical story of the friends who cut a hole in the roof of a house to get a friend to Jesus to be healed of paralysis, the Moderator urged lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and their allies to be as bold as the friends of the paralyzed man by helping each other and the church to get close to Jesus.
..The Rev. Janet Edwards said, "The Heidelberg Catechism is one of the defining documents of Reformed traditions and must be translated correctly. Any mistranslation undermines the integrity of the document and raises questions among those standing at the margins who wonder if they are included in the love of Christ."

BTDT?
You know, The Creator, what ever or whom ever you perceive that to be, invented sex as a inducement to procreate and preserve the species (virtually all species).
Now people can love a lot of things and that’s up to the individual. It might be your spouse, your dog or cat, or even ice cream.
Now two people can jack each other off all day long, but that doesn’t make it sex. Sex is between a man and a woman... Gay sex doesn’t exist.
“More light” in the loafers?
Moderator CYNTHIA? Rev. JANET?
I think this is where the problem starts.
The Presbyterian church has forgotten what the church is about - preaching the gospel and studying the word of God. They have put the Bible aside as it teaches about the sin of homosexuality. This church and its pastors will be judged.
It’s deja vu all over again.
“The Creator, what ever or whom ever you perceive that to be, invented sex as a inducement to procreate and preserve the species (virtually all species).....Sex is between a man and a woman... Gay sex doesnt exist.”
I disagree, the Bible is quite clear on it. Sex is for making babies and enjoyment between husband and wife. There are many references to it.
There are also references to gay sex, specifically that it is an abomination. Sexual immorality is clearly condemned.
This isn’t any Church that reads the Bible. They are as bad as the Scientoligists. Making it up as they go along.
The Rev. Janet Edwards said, "The Heidelberg Catechism is one of the defining documents of Reformed traditions and must be translated correctly. Any mistranslation undermines the integrity of the document and raises questions among those standing at the margins who wonder if they are included in the love of Christ."
Curious that she should mention that.
Kevin DeYoung in his recent book on the Heidelberg (The Good News We Almost Forgot. Highly recommended.) discusses this.
From memory, because I don't have it in front of me: the PCUSA guys who translated it for the them didn't translate well. The explicit reference to homosexuality isn't there. That translator recognized it as an implicit reference to one of the places in the NT where homosexuality is condemned. Zacharias Ursinus & Co. would certainly have understood it so. The their translator made explicit what the Ursinus & Co. left implicit.
The Heidelberg Catechism is (sort of) part of the confessional underpinnings of the PCUSA (but in a way that's deliberately undermining of that structure). A year or three back, the PCUSA altered their own, idiosyncratic, translation to remove an explicit reference to homosexuality. A reference that wasn't there to begin with.
In other words, there's no aid for the homo-affirming from that particular quarter.
I have attended the Presbyterian Church most of my life, but I never became a member. Last Sunday our minister gave a sermon; ‘Compromising The Gospel’. Then at the very end of the sermon he stated, The Presbyterian Church USA made some compromises, but he didn’t say what this compromising was, but I knew what he was hinting at.
The Bible is very explicit about homosexuality, both in the Old and the New Testimont, specially Paul’s writings in Acts. There is no arguments or debates, you just don’t compromise with the word of God.
The Boy Scouts of American had the guts not to compromise for the sake of Political Correctness. They are sticking to their principles of morality by not allowing homosexuals to be scout leaders. It’s an absolute shame that a Biblically principled Church like the Presbyterian’s can’t stick to Godly principals as they fall into the trap of Political Correctness.
So, now I am looking for a church that adhere’s to the principals as demanded by God and not by man.
I am open to any suggestions.
I recommend the Presbyterian Church in America a/k/a PCA:
It’s the denomination I’m a member of.
Here’s the link on our beliefs:

and the directory where you can locate your nearest PCA congregation:

Thank you for your list: I found a Prysbyterian Church in Ameria right in my neighborhood. It’s called Grace Church in Seattle WA, which I didn’t even know existed. We’ll just see how good the minister is this Sunday. The minister makes all the difference in which churches I attend. The reason I attended University Pres. most of my life was because of the minister, Earl Palmer, when he retired I started to attend the First Pres. downtown with Jeff Shultz, who I think also is very good. His sermon about ‘Compromising the Bible’ was very relivent.
Interestingly, our Weds. Night Bible Study is just begining the book of Galatians where we begin reading where Paul is chastizing the church- Gal. 1: 6-12, where the early church was doing some compromising and he condemns it because the compromise is from man and not from God.
Then there’s Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, First Corinthians 6:9-10 and Romans 1:26, 27.
What is the Presbyterian USA’s excuse? I don’t understand.
Nah, they’ll re-write whatever can support the gay agenda. however the problem is that the gay-agenda will lead to the demise of the PCUSA. I’m not just saying that as a Christian, but if you look at how the gay-friendly groups have fared, they just drop off in numbers from people disgusted by the gay stuff and they don’t get their desired gay clientele
Great! Please post after you’ve attended there to tell us how it goes.
