So a lefty doesn’t like Perry. Big surprise.
As with many possible candidates, Perry has plusses and minuses.
He has had to make deals with the devil in his tenure as Governor, as has every governor including Reagan when he was Governor of California.
The litmus test for the Conservative candidate for POTUS seems to be so high (yes, I mixed metaphors there) that NO ONE can meet it — my guy Mr. Cain, Gov. Palin, Ms. Bachmann, Gov. Perry, and others...
So if we have no perfect candidates must we just destroy all who do not meet the 100% test?
barry the zero is polling as low as any POTUS since Grant — will we let our purity requirement let him do twice the damage for another 4 years??
(note: I do not endorse the bizarre and inexplicable Romney - that guy is just out there in nana/rino land)
Yup, every candidate or potential candidate has liabilities. Every one.
The old Buckley rule was to support the most conservative, most electable candidate possible.
That may be Perry.
>>The old Buckley rule was to support the most conservative, most electable candidate possible<<
And the Reagan 11th Commandment.
I hope we don’t eat our own.
Perry’s act about as crafted as the unvetted AnointedIdiot’s “hope and change” huh, Lisa Falkenberg? =.=
Ever since the Chron cut staff four years ago -- and the size of their paper, and their collective IQ -- the remaining writers have mostly been those known by the rest of the staff for advanced sycophancy, the kind they teach in those Leisure Learning Limited "Office Politics" classes.
Whenever they see a Lisa Falkenberg article, knowledgable readers automatically sing out, "cleanup on Aisle 4!"
I think conservatives can hold themselves excused from that conjoinder now, especially in primary season, especially given the RiNO harpoon jobs people like Ed Rollins, Karl Rove, and Brooksie and Will have rained down on Tea Party people like Angle, O'Donnell, Bachmann, Palin, and Rubio. The RiNOrati's betrayals and backstabbing go back to the Goldwater campaign, and they've always been predictable, reliable, base, and destructively self-serving.
We should hold ourselves to no higher standard than the Muffies and Buffies and Puffies hold themselves when contemplating conservative, Main-Street candidates.
one thing i know. if a man (or woman) want’s to call on the Lord and bring people to the Lord, he (she) better walk real humble and he (she) certainly better be giving all the glory to the Lord.
there’s something about this guy perry that is beginning to peg my BS and hypocrite meter. i hope it’s wrong this time but the more i hear about this guy, the less i like him.
and it has *nothing* to do with pluses or minuses or conservative or not. it’s all walking the talk.
Perry is unviable outside of the south.
Polls indicate he’s less electable than Ron Paul.
Downright eerie how Perry’s people talked about Merck product on same day Merck gave Perry money

I know I didn’t vote for him in the primary last year. As far as I am concerned he is the poster boy for style over substance.
It appears to me the only “perfect” candidate we’ve ever had is Obama. He had no background, no nothing. The problem, evidently, is the Republicans have experienced politicians with “backgrounds”, but They can’t win because they have not appealed to 100% of the people 100% of the time. And, as you notice, the “Media” is doing a great job telling us how bad each Republican is.
“That being said, it doesn’t surprise me one bit that Perry would suddenly become “more comfortable” with the idea of leading a country he once flirted with seceding from.”
That was just a front. Like putting the national guard on
the boarder or shutting down sanctuary cities or stopping TSA
sanctioned molestation. It was all just a front to get the
fed gov off his buddies backs. Rick Perry tried to give us
the gem of them all, the Trans-Texas Corridor
complete with a non-compete clause for all Texas
Toll Roads.
We seem to have that down to an art here on FR.
Second, I do not trust Perry on social issues. His pandering to the Texas Succession movement was so blatant as to be comical.
Third, IMHO the country will not elect another Texan for sometime to come.
By that argument, the country won’t elect any republican form time to come. People will choose between Obama’s record vs the selected opponent, regardless of where he/she is from. Love to watch so many here buy the leftist lines about Texas. I’d say most conservatives and a lot of independents not only would vote for a Texan, but have thought about moving TO Texas because it seems to be the only sane place in the country right now.
Conservatives do not elect the president, independents do.
