Friday, November 19, 2010 .. Thousands of faithful attended an outdoor Mass in the rain on November 14, 2010 at the Valle de los Caídos. There were so many faithful in attendance that the crowd poured over into El Escorial. Traffic jams were experienced up to 10 km from the Basilica due to the number of faithful in attendance.

Suppression of the MASS in Catholic Spain???? OMG!
Spain ain’t been Catholic for centuries.
The article has very little information — is Spain declaring the HRC illegal or something similar?
The Marxist Spanish government did in 1936.
That didn't work out too well back then.
What’s going on:
What’s suppressed isn’t mass in general, but a national monument, built by Francisco Franco, to honor the dead of the Spanish Civil War, a giant basilica, which immediately took on a political focus given the nature of the Civil War, but became the most visited tourist/pilgrimage site in all of Spain. When the communists (er, socialists) won the war (er, election) after “3/11,” they closed the basilica, citing the need for repair work to keep the public safe. Funny thing: they’re not doing any repair work, nor has it been evident what sort of safety problems exist. Natch, the supposition is that the communists (er, socialists) simply want it closed because of politics.
They may have more of an easy time of it now.
My personal opinion is that they are making it worse by trying to quash it. Here is a link to what is going on and why they are banning the mass there. Even if you can’t read Spanish, the picture explains why the socialist government is doing what it is doing. If you can read Spanish, it is a great story. And they are not saluting Hitler, they are saluting Franco.

Yeah, but where is today’s Franco?
They'll try to murder someone else this time.
For all their talk of their being modern and progressive, your typical Commy is a plodding thug little given to creativity. You can count on them rerunning the stuff that got them in trouble the last time they tried it.
I'd advise the non-Communists in Spain to not let any of them survive the ordeal this time. Just kill them all. Satan will know his own.
I wasn’t aware that anyone other than Nazis used that salute...
This was part of the “Memoria Historica” agenda of the Zapatero government, which basically meant eliminating any mention of, or anything associated with, Franco (who saved Spain from Marxism, Zapatero’s religion) from the public square.
This would be like a site controlled by the National Park Service suddenly forbidding a traditional practice at that site (like the Easter services at various crosses on NPS land) becuase of purely political reasons.
The Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid has appealed to the government, and the Benedictines who have a monastery there have actually also been very strong.
Franco saved Spain from Marxism.
Considering that the Communists killed 13,000 Catholics simply for being Christian (they killed priests, teaching sisters and brothers and cloistered nuns and monks, along with lay leaders, particularly teachers) I’d say it would be a little hard to keep up with the Marxists on this one.
Yup, the Commies are in the lead, but that doesn’t mean we can’t seek equality of performance.
Yes.
