How does a non-Christian person offended by the ad see it if it is in a church?

They wouldn’t care, not even the politically correct, if someone didn’t make a deal about it. This is perfectly absurd. People put advertisements in churches for religious activities all the time, but no one, at least as far as I heard, made a deal about it.

I’ve heard some dumb things in my time but that’s got to be up there with the best of them.

Sadly we have a lot of dumb things like this happening in England at the moment. We often find that the decision has been made by a cretin in public office who’s so scared of having to think long enough to make a decision for themselves that they set common sense to one side and apply the letter of the instructions in front of them, literally in the hope that it passes the buck onto someone else.

Political correctness is a bit of a red herring: it’s more a case of “using my noggin is more than my job’s worth”.
