Bishop Eddie Long to Receive a Certified Letter of Demand to Step Down From the Pulpit

A well known Dallas base controversial talk show host, Reuben Armstrong is drafting a certified letter to Bishop Eddie Long demanding that he step down immediately from the Pulpit.

The letter will convey Armstrong’s reasons for this demand including “Long’s alleged child predatory behaviors and the sexual abuse of young men in Long’s church", the New Birth Missionary Church.

“Long's actions are of the devil and not of God”, says Armstrong. “Bishop Eddie Long is using the word of God to allegedly manipulate young men of his church for his own homosexual use”.

Armstrong wrote extensively about Bishop Eddie Long’s alleged homosexual lifestyle in his book, “Snakes in the Pulpit.” The book was on the best selling list of Essence Magazine for over a year.

Armstrong has a very good reason for demanding the resignation of Long and it started when two youth pastors from the New Birth Church reached out to him in 2006. They told him that their pastor, "Bishop Long and some of other ministers from Long’s church were sexually abusing young boys in the congregation." They told Armstrong that this was a frequent occurrence and that these men of the church, including Long, were having sex with these young boys before and after church services. The youth pastors were afraid to come forth with this information publicly because “they would fear for their lives if their names should be made public”. It was at this time when Armstrong first took this to the public air ways on his talk show and wrote about it in his book.

Now that the four young men have come forth and told their stories and have filed lawsuits against Long, the people are starting to listen. They are hearing that Long, who is professing to be a man of God, is allegedly using the scriptures and his power in the church to sexual abuse these young boys in the New Birth Church. Although Bishop Long has used sentences such as ,”I vow to fight this” and “I am not the person the media is making me out to be”, he has not come out definitively deny these allegations. It may be what Bishop Long is not saying is speaking louder than what he is saying.

Thanks for posting this. On Armstrong’s website he seems to be going after the right ones. Its about time someone blew the whistle.
