I watched this guy as he was building his Cathedral in the late seventies. That was the televangelist zenith I think. Garner Ted Armstrong was the first to go down then so many others followed. These guys really give religion a bad name.
I once expressed the opinion that Robert Schuller's program seemed to exemplify the "American Religion". Sort of a "let's all get together, sing some really great songs, listen to some inspirational speeches that may or may not have anything to do with Christian belief, take up a collection, get back in our fancy cars and go eat, but first a word from our sponsor"... He is/was the rich man's Billy Graham. I made the mistake of saying that to a rich man... WOW did I get an earful.
