I once expressed the opinion that Robert Schuller's program seemed to exemplify the "American Religion". Sort of a "let's all get together, sing some really great songs, listen to some inspirational speeches that may or may not have anything to do with Christian belief, take up a collection, get back in our fancy cars and go eat, but first a word from our sponsor"... He is/was the rich man's Billy Graham. I made the mistake of saying that to a rich man... WOW did I get an earful.
Actually I had an awkward teenager years. What with every one smoking pot and taking Qualudes. Something I never liked or got addicted too. His books helped me out. He even had prayers in the books. I loved at one time to read his books. If you remember he would have Fulton Sheen on some shows.
