When the troubles of life come don't put your focus on the problem put it on the word. The scripture says "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2Corinthians 4:18). Your problems are temporal(subject to change), but the word of God is eternal(everlasting). when you put your focus on the problem you loose sight of the power of God. Like Peter when Jesus told him to come to him out on the water, he got out of the boat and walked on the water until he saw the waves boisterous. Notice when he changed focus from Jesus to the waves he began to sink.
How about Elijah when he called fire down from heaven King Ahab told Queen Jezebel what had happened and she sent a messenger with a message that she was going to kill Elijah and he ran and hid and begged God to take his life just at Queen Jezebel's word. The man just called fire down from heaven and yet he got focused on Queen Jezebel's message and lost all sight of God's power (1Kings 19:1-4). The scripture says "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen." God has done some things that may not appear to be done, but that's the time to walk by faith and not by sight (1Corinthians 5:7).
Like Elisha and his servant when the King of Syria sent his army to capture Elisha, they surrounded the city by night. When Elisha's servant arose that morning and saw the great multitude of soldiers he paniced, but when Elisha came out he said "Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." Then Elisha prayed that his servant's eyes be opened and he saw the angels of God. Two men in the same situation one focused on the problem and the other focused of God's word.
How about Abraham both him and his wife were old and Sarah was barren, but God said that they would have a son what did Abraham do. He considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb (Romans 4:19). He was fully persuaded that, what God promised, he was able to perform (Romans 4:21). Notice what Abraham did, he didn't focus on the problem he focused on what God had promised. And that's exactly what you should do in the times of trouble.
I have diverticulitis and stage IV endometriosis. Both are flaring badly and I’ve been in tremendous pain today. But I really needed to hear this. Thank you.
Good idea. Signing off.
Words of wisdom bump.
Said a quick prayer for you. Hold on.
“By My Stripes, you were healed” Jesus says to Kimmie.
Thanks. Blessings.
Make HIS words “By My stripes, you were healed” your confession (and not the doctor’s report). He took all your sickness on The Cross - according to His Word. Keep saying it, believe it and thank HIM. I’m believing with you.
And behold, a woman who was diseased with an issue of blood for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the hem of His garment;
for she said to herself, If I may but touch His garment, I shall be whole. (THIS WAS HER CONFESSION)
But Jesus turned about, and when He saw her, He said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. MATTHEW 9: 20-22
That Bible story has been my favorite from childhood. Funny how it would come to be special to me later in life.
Eventually, my time spent with God would affect me so much, I'd end up sing and praising God. I'd get back to my car, and my focus had totally changed. The issues hadn't changed, but my heart had. Christ had strengthened me at times.
Mostly, instead of focusing on the hugeness of my circumstances, I was focusing on the hugeness of my God.
It would be during this period that I'd read Gods word, not for my issue, but for what God would speak. By allowing God to speak often times he would teach or prepare me for things I couldn't see yet.
What I think is this thread is for you, personally. Frank might have thought it was a good idea to post it but I know where that idea came from. And me - posting that Scripture for you. God knows how to reach you! There is no coincidences with God. Even Einstein said - Coincidences is God’s way of being anonymous - something like that.
God knows what you are going through - believe HIM/His Words ONLY.
Now that’s a believer’s walk with God. Thanks for sharing it.
Thats beautiful thing to do. When you are in his nature praying with him. You can be more alive. I go to the Park or beach to pray. It’s a sweet peace in the Holy Spirit. Thanks for post.
Amen!
I’m a hillbilly from Kentucky. I used to walk to the top of our knob and sit by the creek to pray and meditate on the Lord. I miss those hills so, I think for that reason.
I recently found a chair I fell in love with at a yard sale for $10. Besides being quite stylish, it is low and wide — just like me. It now sits in the corner of my bedroom and if I can keep my hubby’s stuff out of it I use it as a sort of “prayer closet”. Wonderful.
At 5:30 in the morning I have found such comfort and hope in this thread. Thank you so much for “reminding” me where my focus should be. It’s something I know, I guess I just get distracted.
Kimmie, keep the faith and it will keep you. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks again Frank Broom. You have helped to uplift and renew my thinking.
