To Whom It May Concern let’s get this out on the table all you Freepers who adhere to this kind of stuff you are welcome to your own thoughts on my faith.

But what is portrayed here is like asking another person do you still beat you dog no matter how you answer the spin mister still has control.

All I know is that my 28 years as a Latter Day Saint has been a blessing on my life and help me to be a better person and a more understanding towards my fellowman even those who continue to pound on the LDS because we are different in some ways.

Those of you who think about my religion in this matter there is nothing I can say accept I know it is wholesome clean loving experience in a world gone mad!

I am thankful I have a refuge to go to when there is too much turmoil in the world I can come away refreshed knowing my Savior is overseeing every things and He is very nearby.

It seems for years those who opposed the LDS have been itching to yell it from the house top all the wicked things they think the Church is doing so here one of their latest version that has been posted to me in so many different ways.

Those who opposed the LDS need something I have not a clue what it is but something is driving them to be obsessed with this topic daily I hope somehow this can bring them and those who join them relief!

Someone just reminded me

Yes, Resty there is nothing to gain from trying to engage them. Let them rant on and show what bigots there are and leave them be. Give not that which is holy to the dogs or cast your pearls before swine.

They want to goad you, they want to provoke you to react.

and here i thought Catholicism was off base. I’ve always looked at Mormonism as more of a cult than anything, like Jehova’s Witnesses. I dont claim to know much of Mormon doctrine, but if this post is even remotely accurate then Mormonism is a far cry from Christianity, yet they amazingly are portrayed as very similiar.

I wonder how these folks will feel when they realize I joined the church because one of my stepfathers told me just what Mormon missionaries tell people. “Don't believe what I say, read it for yourself, and pray about it, and ask to know the truth.”

He was a Baptist minister. I finally felt that conversion experience he told me about more than thirty years after I last saw him. Praying about the Book of Mormon. Oh, he also told me there is no place in the Bible that mentions baptism for the dead. The Elder that answered my questions showed me 1st Corinthians 15:29 in the Bible I got attending Baptist Sunday School as a teen.

29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?

I've heard all kinds of explanations about how Paul didn't really mean baptism for the dead, but something else. All I know is that when I asked God about it, I got told the Book of Mormon is true, and Joseph Smith was a prophet. Good enough for me.

I've also been told that God didn't answer my prayer, Satan did. They must see a different God than I do.

I am Catholic. This type of stuff makes my blood run cold. If just one of these religions goes down, they all will, that is the socialistic way of life. We have to stand together and not let this happen.

I’m confused. You know that Mormonism is based on a series of lies, and yet you still cling to your Mormon faith because it’s been “a blessing” on your life?

AH, well. The last time I had a few Mormon missionaries drop in, God, gave me the perfect response:

“I would love to share my testimony with you, but not to discuss religion. You see, you have an unfair advantage. You are permitted to lie about your beliefs, and I need to tell the truth about mine.”

(for example, after the Mormon deity visited the Virgin Mary to beget Jesus, she weren’t no virgin no more!)

I take no personal relief in the exposure of the foundation of Mormonism....none whatsoever....it actually makes me sad and it makes me shake my head how such outlandish propaganda has been successful....

of course, any belief system that automatically demotes one gender, or one race, into lower "classes" AND actually gives "God" given rights for young girls to be taken as sexual objects by middle aged or old men, well....that is quite the entirement to men..

that enticement has lead to the exponential growth of Mormonism....

but I have to say I know mostly all nice, good, value based Mormons....a few lazy drinkers and cheaters types, but they are in the minority in my circle..I share many of the attitudes of practicing Mormons.....marriage,family,citizenship, frugality, etc....

its sad to me is that they belong to a religion that is not Christ centered...and I wonder if the one true God will look at the behaviour and not the propaganda when HE judges..since I believe in a Loving God, I think HE will....

The Mormons I know are exceptionally good and decent people. I have never witnessed any nastiness or hard-heartedness from any of them that is even remotely of the kind that some of the so-called devout "Christians" display at FR when attacking Mormons.

These Mormon bashers just see themselves as pitbulls for Jesus, I guess. I never thought Jesus would need such people to defend Christianity on his behalf.

I'm not a particularly good man, myself. But I can detect hypocrisy from vicious people who pass themselves off as good Christians.

Now I'll leave. They'll be here soon to attack me, I'm sure. They always show up, fangs bared.

But what is portrayed here is like asking another person do you still beat you dog no matter how you answer the spin mister still has control.

I like starting at the beginning; it makes the movie a LOT easier to understand if you see it from the start...

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/17#17

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother,
“I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

And, continuing thru the years, the high ranking leaders of that Organization have done the same!

Joseph Smith continues: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith-History 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).

Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).

Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).

Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).

Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (Journal of Discourses, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses, 18:172).

President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses, 10:127).
James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).

More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).

President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).

President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p.196).

What does the BIBLE 'say about your CHOSEN religion' in a world where it was predicted that False Prophets and False Christs would inhabit it?

KJV
 Galatians 1:6-9
 6.  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
 7.  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
 8.  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
 9.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

ANYBODY???

Like this fine looking fellow???

2 Corinthians 11:12-15
 12.  But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
 13.  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
 14.  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
 15.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Like THESE guys??

Ephesians 2:1-2
1.  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

1 Corinthians 4:17
For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

1 Corinthians 11:2
Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

2 Timothy 1:13
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 3:14-15
 14.  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
 15.  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Mitt Romney. The same way the mouth-breathers of 1960 thought bashing Catholicism would stop Kennedy.

I say if the boys on the bicycles with the white shirts knock on your door, tell them no thank you. Until then, it should not be anyone's business what happens in your tabernacle.

I feel we should all be united against evil misogynist bloodthirsty Islam. I see the issue in your posting as a possible attempt by some low-minded few to divide us all and very well could disguise backdoor antisemitism, what with the high esteem that Mormonism holds for Israel.

I could never get my mind around Golden Tablets hidden in upper New York State. Plus, Baptizing one's long dead Great Great Grandfather into the church even if he was a Baptist preacher seems a little far-fetched. And although this goes really way back, the Mountain Meadows massacre still doesn't speak very well for the church as a whole. I mean, The Prophet said murder and they murdered, was clearly not the right way to get close to God. We were supposed to be over that sort of thing in America by then.

Still and all that said, Mormon's I have met seem to have something going for themselves. They definitely take care of their own and they sometimes take care of the lost and defeated that have been overlooked by others.
