Google Earth reveals Son of God in Hungarian field
The Tech Herald ^ | Jul 5 2010 | Stevie Smith

Whether the focus is on a statue of The Virgin Mary weeping blood, or on a misshapen cinnamon bun with the face of Mother Teresa, such religious ‘events’ almost always draw a crowd of eager rubberneckers.

Bearing that in mind, may we turn your collective attention to Google Earth for the latest ‘unexplained’ spectacle that’s bound to wow willing believers.

The above image of Jesus was first spotted by 26-year-old sales assistant Zach Evans of Southampton, England, who apparently discovered Christ’s unmistakable likeness while using Google Earth to assess potential vacation spots.

“I’m not a religious person looking for images of Mary or Jesus in everything, but this is obvious,” Mr. Evans told The Sun newspaper regarding the (somewhat unconvincing) image sprawled across a piece of nondescript farmland in Hungary.

Earlier this year, 22-year-old bank worker Tony Elles from Manchester, England, cheated death in a freak frying pan fire only to find the face of Jesus clearly burned into the cooking fat within the charred pan. Spooky.

On a separate note – and call us shallow – but surely there are better places to peruse than dull Hungarian fields when it comes to choosing a worthwhile holiday destination.

That’s actually one of the better ones. But how does one know the image isn’t doctored?

Is there a website somewhere that collects these images?

What’s the rule book on apparitions? Are they for Catholics only?

Well, to tell you the truth, I was getting pretty tired of Geo Noory’s Bigfoot > Shadow People > Planet X topic rotation, so here’s something new.

That could also depict a long haired hippie, or a rock band singer....who we know what they look like. Since we don't know what Christ looked like I find all these are simply ones imaginations of what they want them to look like.

It goes beyond ridiculous to find shadows, cracks in banana's, restaurant grills, tree knots...and the list goes on and on of people looking at these things as Christ. If they can believe these.. imagine how easy they will see the anti-Christ and believe in him. Foolish people.

I’m a Christian and even I would ask - “How do you know this isn’t “Peter Scholome” (Jesus’s neighbor, school mate, relative, friend) of someone who live in some far flung area totally unrelated to anyone or anything.

It could (most likely is) a random set of anomalies which (due to the nature of man instincts for recognizing facial features) actually resembles a face. A face that could represent any number of persons or non persons that lived somewhere, sometime ..... ?

Here in Clearwater we used to have Mary in a window. They had vigils there on a regular basis.

Then one night some guy thinks he’s going to do something funny and smashes the window. Made a lot of people mad, including people who didn’t believe it was Mary.

Well, it’s not photoshopped, unless Google Earth shopped it. Here’s a bookmark... http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=900300&filename=20100428081658-4bd8516a967f34.36642547.kmz

I was just about to say - my first impression was that it looked a little like Frank Zappa. I assume the historical Jesus looked like the typical Mid-Easterner - olive skin, black hair and eyes, shorter than the average European. I guess the beard and long hair can be assumed from Orthodox Jewish traditions on shaving and cutting hair?

I’m not sure its Jesus, though it could be if He looked a lot like Frank Zappa.

First the Crispy Christ and now this... I’d say England is poised for a bit of a revival! Just in time for Charles III...

What we do know is that Christ's countenance was not that woman would desire him....

Long hair, beard ...yes would likely indicate a Jewish “look”.....but would cover alot of people not Jewish as well.

As I mentioned...people are primed to believe what they want to believe and if they believe these bizarre and misleading reports they will fall for the anti-Christ or any leader quite easily...when that time comes....just look at who voted for umbama is telling enough.

People are fools to put any faith in this sort of stuff....but then it's getting to where people can and will believe about anything....no discerning abilities let alone judgment of real and fake...and it all appeals to the senses one way or another......

....as for the window...perhaps God raised up that man to destroy that “image” which had become an “Idol” to those people. He is big at destroying idol worship. So people should take heed who they are really angry with. Reminds me of kids throwing fits when their toys are taken away.

I think it is the image of one of my ex sister in laws, now deceased. She was always such an attention whore.

It’s never kind to destroy what people care about. But I agree with you - it is silly.

I love reading when atheists say, “oh let them grow up without religion, and when they are older they can make a choice.” But if you have nothing, you will fall for anything.
