Isaiah 46

8 “Remember this and stand firm,
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
9 remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10 declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
11 calling a bird of prey from the east,
the man of my counsel from a far country.
I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass;
I have purposed, and I will do it.

Was there something unclear in my "I'm not a theologian" disclaimer?

I recall there are passages which state that no man knows the time of the "End", and I take that to mean we should not be focused on trying to figure out "when". That kind of relates to the old joke: "Jesus is coming. Look busy!" My guess is we need to do our best (nobody's perfect) to stay "busy" all the time. I also recall that we are not supposed to suffer witches to be among us, and I think there are some passages disparaging "diviners", i.e. folks who try to predict the future using signs and omens.

Oh, and the whole stoning to death of false prophets (defined as someone who claims God is speaking through them but when they "prophesy" something that doesn't come to pass they're judged "false") comes to mind. But I don't claim to be an expert and I'm not going to look this stuff up for you.

PS: Value of my opinions on this subject: $ 0.02 (like most people I know)

PS: I do take your question seriously and hope you will pardon the humor. But I was stating an opinion on a subject on which I am no expert, just an interested observer trying to do my best seeing things through my own personal fog of human understanding.

You took the scripture right out of my mouth (so to speak) so I'll put Mark 13:32 out there:

"But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father."
