Copies of papal correspondence and official documents entered in special volumes. Those previous to the thirteenth century have all but disappeared, except for fragments. THe British Museum and Cambridge University are the repositories of the most important of these fragments. These collections are of primary historical importance, though many have been proved not to be originals.
