Didn’t Jesus say something like no man would know the time?

I believe that to be the biggest mistake Christians are making concerning the coming of Christ. Let me explain it as I understand it and you can decide for yourself.

Matthew 24:36-But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Now consider the verse right before that one.
Matthew 24:35-Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Isn’t Christ talking about when the earth itself will cease to exist in Matthew 24:36?

Now the verse just before that in Matthew 24:34 says-Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

It seems illogical that Christ would tell everyone what the signs of His coming would be and at the same time tell us we can’t know. The Bible is full of predictions about His second coming for us to know when His hour is near.

Do you remeber how in the same book of Matthew Christ was angry that the rulers and teachers of that day weren’t considering the Biblical prophecies of His first coming? They weren’t satisfied by the fact that Christ met all of the qualifications for the Christ predicted in the scriptures but wanted an additional sign. This they asked for in spite of the fact He was going around healing people and raising the dead. Consider what His responce was in Matthew 16:2-3 -He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Then He really lets them have it in the next verse in Matthew 16:4-A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

You see they were supposed to have believed the scriptures and should have recognized the signs of His appearing.

They were suppose to know His time was near and so should we for His second coming.
