A real double-standard.

Can’t mock or say bad things about Islam, can’t even tell the truth, but the barbarians can say whatever they want and get away with it.

Nonie Darwish is someone to pay attention to. She's very knowledgeable and informed.

PRINCETON — Yesterday’s scheduled speech by controversial author and human rights activist Nonie Darwish at Princeton University was canceled after the student groups sponsoring the event withdrew their support.

Darwish, founder of Arabs for Israel and Former Muslims United, has written critically of radical Islam, and many opponents argue her views extend to the religion overall. Her speeches have been met with protests on several other college campuses.

On Tuesday, Tigers For Israel and the American Whig-Cliosophic Society withdrew their sponsorship.

“She’s not anti-Islam. She makes very clear the distinction between radical Islam as an institution and the religion of Islam,” said sophomore Rafael Grinberg, co-vice president of TFI. He opposed the decision and attempted to bring Darwish to campus after the groups withdrew, though her speech was canceled.

Robert Day, a senior and the publisher of Princeton’s conservative magazine the Tory, which offered to sponsor the event instead, said that Darwish’s opinions were being “unduly silenced.”

“This is not an attempt to silence her,” said junior Addie Lerner, TFI president. “We did not want to associate ourselves as her sponsor because we didn’t want it to seem like we believe in her views on Islam in their entirety.”

When students raised concerns about Darwish’s views to the university’s Muslim Chaplain, Imam Sohaib Sultan, he passed along their thoughts — and a selection of Darwish’s more incendiary quotes — to Rabbi Julie Roth, the executive director of Princeton’s Center for Jewish Life, and TFI, which later decided to drop its support.

“Any notion of Islamic intimidation is just ridiculous,” said Sultan, who said he reached out to raise awareness of the potential divisions Darwish’s speech could create on campus. “I never once pressured anyone to withdraw support from this event.”

Ben Weisman, a junior and Whig-Clio’s president, said that the group opposed Darwish’s views.

“Our decision to rescind our co-sponsorship was not based on pressure from any groups,” he said. “We fully understood the controversial and offensive nature of her views.

“Because TFI initially indicated through their invitation that they not only consider her views relevant enough in the mainstream discourse to be presented at Princeton, but also that there was possible support for these ideas, Whig-Clio deemed it worthwhile to bring this controversial figure to Whig Hall so that her views could be understood and challenged.

“After TFI pulled out, that justification sort of evaporated,” Weisman said.

Darwish was left without a venue because university policy requires events to be sponsored by student groups, Grinberg said.

“I decided though both groups were withdrawing, it was even more important to have her speak because I still think she’d have a very positive impact, and because at this point it’s important to show that at least for me, I’m not afraid of what other people think,” said Grinberg, who suggested that TFI was concerned about its public image.

The Tory offered to sponsor the speech, but it was canceled because Grinberg ran out of time to arrange for university security guards for Darwish after the initial groups withdrew, he said.

“The fact that someone holds such critical views of a particular religious faith should never justify the silencing of her opinion,” Day said. “(The Tory) believed this to be particularly important for a university that is committed to the promotion of open, intellectual discourse.”

University officials did not return phone calls on the matter.

TFI stands firm in its decision to rescind sponsorship. “This wasn’t anything we were pressured into. This was a long, thought-out decision,” Lerner said. “We’re standing up for what we believe in. We don’t believe in anti-Islam rhetoric.”

Thanks for the links in #13.

Here is the reason she is hated by Muslims —

Funny how kids don’t really wake up and see the world for what it is until they are out of college and on their own.

You would think the Ft. Hood masacre would change a few minds about radical Islam, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. Makes me wonder what it will take.

“Jihad Denial Syndrome” Exposed

By Brigitte Gabriel | 11/10/09 | 01:43 PM EDT |

The facts are emerging. The warning signs were there. Story after story is breaking new information. Even some in the “establishment media,” such as ABC News, have produced news segments revealing the evidence that Nidal Hasan was a radical Islamist.

The FBI had seen warning signs. So had the CIA and the Joint Terrorism Task Force. Numerous fellow officers had witnessed Hasan make statements, even during presentations he gave, that should have set off alarm bells.

Some of the latest news to come out is that Hasan had been in communication with an al Qaeda imam — and authorities knew it and dismissed Hasan’s contacts with the conclusion that he was doing “research” for a thesis!

The tapestry of jihad being pieced together has prompted Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman to call for hearings to investigate who knew what, when, and why action was not taken.

How is it possible that so many warning signs and red flags were ignored, rationalized, or dismissed?

There are at least two reasons.

The first is that too many in leadership in our country, whether in government, the military, or counterterrorism, do not want to connect the dots between the jihadist ideology, so clearly permeating the holy books of Islam, and the act of jihad.

ACT! has been exposing this failure ever since its founding. Dr. Walid Phares, during his presentation at the American Congress for Truth webcast conference “Radical Islam’s Threat to America” (held this past Saturday), stated astonishingly that eight years after 9/11 there is still widespread denial in our government about who the enemy is and why the enemy acts as he does.

This may help explain why, on the day of the Ft. Hood massacre, the FBI released a statement declaring “this was not a terrorist act.” How could they “rush to judgment” with such a faulty claim so quickly?

Answer: “Jihad Denial Syndrome.”

The second reason is linked to the first, which we discussed in our email alert yesterday — a culture of political correctness.

College campuses, Hollywood and television, and much of the “establishment media” are principal drivers of this culture of political correctness. In this worldview, there is a denial of fact and evidence that literally boggles the mind.

Our jihadist enemies throughout the world don’t hide the jihadist ideology — they celebrate it. It’s there for all the world to see — if it wants to. Too many of our leaders don’t want to.

Another enforcer of this political correctness is organizations like CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. For years CAIR has bullied, browbeat, intimidated and smeared anyone who dares to speak the truth about radical Islam. (See our petition calling for a government investigation of CAIR.)

Last Thursday night, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad denounced the violence — and then emphasized that this had nothing to do with Islam.

So did other representatives of other Islamist organizations.

In other words, they didn’t denounce the Islamist, jihadist ideology that led to the violence. Indeed, they in effect denied such an ideology existed. Awad was crystal clear when he stated, falsely, that no religion or ideology could justify such an atrocity.

And in doing so these Islamist enforcers of political correctness fired a warning shot across the bow of the media, the military and the government. They were making it clear that politically correct “Jihad Denial Syndrome” must be adhered to.

Eleven days ago ACT! for America launched a national petition calling for a government investigation of CAIR, due to the mounting revelations of CAIR misdeeds and ties to terrorist organizations.

This petition is even more important now, in the aftermath of Ft. Hood. Why? Because America can no longer afford to be held hostage to a politically correct “Jihad Denial Syndrome” by a terrorist-tainted organization like CAIR.

This is why we continue to urge you, if you haven’t already done so, to sign our petition calling for a government investigation of CAIR.

Senator Lieberman is doing the right thing by convening hearings to investigate the Ft. Hood terrorist act.

We can’t change the culture of political correctness overnight, or the “Jihad Denial Syndrome” that political correctness has helped spawn.

But we are not powerless. There are actions we can take.

Join us today in signing the petition calling for a government investigation of CAIR.

One talk show host said this morning that political correctness can be annoying, even silly, but at Ft. Hood it was deadly.

Another on "Jihad Denial Syndrome"...

MELANIE PHILLIPS: JIHAD DENIAL SYNDROME REACHES EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS

Jihadi Denial Syndrome reaches epidemic proportions
SUNDAY, 8TH NOVEMBER 2009

After the 7/7 London transport bombings woke at least some people up to the phenomenon of British ‘sleeper’ Islamic terrorism – and, equally important, to the way this was continuing to be denied by the British establishment – the reaction across the pond was, to say the least, complacent. What on earth had happened to the British lion? Americans asked, scratching their heads in amazement at how a country which had once stood united in determination to fight the enemies of democracy on the beaches was now apparently indifferent to the spread of jihadi fanaticism and support for religiously inspired violence amongst its own citizens. Americans were particularly astounded that Islamists were even being recruited to serve in the British police and other parts of the establishment.

The fact was, however, as I have written and said on a number of occasions, America was going in a similar direction, albeit more slowly and with a quite different demographic. While the vast majority of its Muslim citizens appeared to be people who really had come to the US to get a slice of the good life and had signed up to American values, there was a growing element amongst US Muslims which was becoming steadily radicalised. Worse still, the FBI and other counter-terrorism agencies had been influenced by their appeasement-minded British cousins in the security world peddling their wholly false analysis of Islamic terrorism as having nothing to do with religion, causing US officials similarly to downplay or passively allow the rise of US radicalisation. (See for example this story about the silence over a Hizb ut Tahrir conference in Chicago.

Now we have seen the horrific outcome – the Fort Hood attack which left 13 people dead and dozens more injured by army psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who reportedly screamed the jihadi battle cry ‘Allahu akhbar!’ before he opened fire. There can be no doubt whatever that this was a jihadi attack upon America, not least from the evidence that has now surfaced of Major Hasan’s attitudes for months before his rampage – evidence that the US authorities simply ignored. The Times reported:

His name appears above radical internet postings praising Islamic suicide bombers — something that the FBI was alerted to six months ago. He had frequent arguments with soldiers at Fort Hood because of his declarations that fellow Muslims ‘should stand up and fight against the aggressor’, and his vocal opposition to US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He even appeared to celebrate the shooting dead of a soldier at an army recruiting centre in Arkansas in June, carried out by a Muslim convert. He said at the time that Muslims should strap on suicide bombs and detonate them in Times Square.

These were the extraordinarily provocative statements and actions of the army psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan in the months before his deadly shootings at Fort Hood — a massacre that began with him shouting ‘God is Great’ in Arabic.

Yet not only did the US authorities ignore these warning signs that its army psychiatrist was an Islamist fanatic – it has been revealed that he was even a member of the Homeland Security panel advising on the presidential transition — but much of the media reaction to the atrocity on both sides of the Atlantic has demonstrated an astounding state of denial. The BBC tried to close off any possibility that this was a jihadi attack and then appeared to lose interest in the story altogether; while the Guardian maintained that the victims of the atrocity were not the American military but the Muslim community, on the basis of revenge attacks against them of which , thankfully, there has been as yet not one sign. (This is the same Guardian that, week in, week out, runs mendacious or distorted pieces about Israel which contribute to a climate of frenzied hatred of Israel and its Jewish supporters which results in dramatic spikes in the number of attacks on British Jews). See Robin Shepherd’s blog entry for an excellent analysis of this extraordinary coverage. And see Robert Spencer hereand here and C Edmund Wright here for some discussion of Jihadi Denial Syndrome in the US.

Now it has been further revealed that Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a ‘spiritual adviser’ to three of the hijackers who attacked America on 9/11. Nevertheless, people are still suggesting that he just snapped — possibly under the impact of, wait for it, post-traumatic stress arising from military conflict. In other words, he was not a religious fanatic but was merely deranged. But religious fanatics are deranged. How else to describe the people who cut off the heads of Daniel Pearl, Nick Berg and so many others; or who strapped suicide bomb belts onto hundreds of Iranian children to turn them into human bombs against the Iraqis; or who want to murder thousands of their fellow British citizens because the Islamists ‘love death’?

Oh I forgot; they are all just resistance fighters against Israeli oppression.

One really has to wonder, looking at this reaction to the fanatic psychiatrist whom the US authorities employed to counsel their soldiers, just who really needs the clinical treatment here.
