Vanity About Possible Pro-Life Caucus
Free Republic | 10/4/09 | wagglebee

Posted on 10/04/2009 12:55:13 PM PDT by wagglebee

I have been exchanging FReepmails with the Religion Moderator about the possibility of having a pro-life caucus in the Religion Forum.

This would allow pro-life FReepers to post on threads that could be "closed" with certain limitations.

Here is what the Religion Moderator suggested could be posted on such threads:

“This Religion Forum thread is designated a Caucus for Pro-Life FReepers, those whose pro-life views stem from their belief in God.

If you are not pro-Life, do not post on this thread.

The Religion Moderator has said that he will presume anti-Life views do not stem from religious beliefs and therefore the caucus will not be broken by our speaking in behalf of the pro-abortion or pro-euthanasia community.

However, if you hold anti-Life views on theological grounds, contact the RM by Freepmail to have the thread tag changed to ‘ecumenical’ in which case you would be able to reply but without antagonism.”

I am not at all certain that this is a good idea, but I think it's definitely something to think about. I would be very interested in what others think.

Thanks and God Bless.

Why limit a pro-life caucus to the religion forum?

Why limit a pro-life caucus to the religion forum?

Because that is the only forum that will allow closed caucus threads.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I don’t see a problem here.

My intention was that it would be pinged from existing pro-life ping lists or new ones if anyone wants to start them.

I say why are we preaching to the choir? Romneybots excluded as they can’t make up their minds.

Has FR changed so much that the pro-abortion types are embraced and this is necessary? I thought FR WAS the pro-life caucus.

Pro-abortion newbies have a very short Freeper life expectancy, they don’t fit in. However, some Freepers disagree over euthanasia, e.g. the Schiavo wars.

However, there ARE some long-time FReepers who are pro-abortion. I realize they say they are “pro-choice” and not pro-abortion, the the outcome is still the same and that is more than 50 million murdered American babies with another added every 24 seconds.

and what of people who are anti-abortion because all innocent life has value AND those who think if someone wants to end their life, we as Conservatives don’t want to put up with their whining?

[[Why limit a pro-life caucus to the religion forum?]]

BINGO!

We want to maximize Pro-Life exposure, this idea would bury it.

I agree w LibFreeOrDie.

The threads in this new Caucus will get virtually no attention.

Religion and Pro-Life threads have the lowest posts and views. If you put the two together you might as well not bother posting.

Case in point the “40 DAYS FOR LIFE” Pro-Life Prayer threads. They average less than 10 posts, sometimes only a few.

This seems like a counter-productive idea.

Also the idea of a “closed” thread seems short sighted. When pro-aborts challenge it forces us to defend our positions. Some of the most informative posts then are made. Think of all the hearts and minds who lurk and might be influenced.

What if eventually ALL pro-life threads get burried there?

Do not forget the law of unintended consequences.

I just do not see any point or benifit for the Pro-Life cause.

On a "pro-Life Caucus" in the Religion Forum, anti's would not be allowed at all. It doesn't matter if they call themselves anti-Life or pro-Abortion or pro-Choice, etc.
