I was with a group that had a Mass in one of the catacombs (I think it was St. Sebastian).
It was an amazing experience to feel how the early Christians held Mass.

When in Rome last month, I went to San Callista. It's really a neat tour. That's where several popes were buried and St. Cecilia originally. She was moved. The steps are steep, and, truthfully, it feels like a cave due to the depth (best air conditioning in the city. All natural).
