Dr. Regina Benjamin, a member of the board of trustees of the Catholic Health Association, is being nominated as surgeon general this morning.

We had this story on Benjamin last fall, when she received a MacArthur fellowship for her work with medical clinics in poverty-stricken areas of Alabama.

Benjamin did her undergraduate studies at Xavier University in New Orleans and in a 2005 speech she talked about the Catholic parish she grew up in, and how her grandmother’s land donation made it possible to create a parish for blacks who experienced segregation in the primarily white church.

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta last winter was reportedly a leading candidate for the position but withdrew his name, citing demands of time and pressure on his family.

I read this morning that she urged that all medical students receive training in performing abortions.

“Obama picks another Catholic.”

If she is pro-choice, then it should read CINO.

Where is she on abortion?

There was nothing in the CNA article about abortion either.

Red flag to me.

If she is really Catholic there would be a statement against abortion. Hmmmm

What! Can you find a link and post it? Obama is following a pattern of selecting Catholics "in name only" for his administration. What's up with this?

Is she a "BABY KILLING CATHOLIC BY BELIEF"? Another proud supporter of PLANNED PARENTHOOD?

Or does she actually respect CATHOLIC TEACHINGS?

Is her "Black Catholic" Parish used as an abortion clinic for "Poor Blacks" in Alabama.

After all, as SCOTUS Justice Ginsberg has stated, we need to dispose of these unwanted and undesirable babies...

In 2006, she was awarded the papal cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice by Pope Benedict XVI.

Msgr. Michael Farmer, chancellor of the Archdiocese of Mobile, Ala., said Benjamin was nominated for the [Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice] because of "her commitment to her faith as well as for putting her faith into practice."

Maybe shes for a for real Catholic Doctor?

So then let me get this straight. This doctor is clearly pro-abortion and has been pushing the AMA in that direction since 1990, and then in 2006 Pope Benedict awards her the papal cross.

I would really appreciate a link for her stance. I would love to have it for others to see.
