The Post-Modern Movement Moves Right Along: Brits line up for ‘de-baptism’

ritain is leading the way (and has been for quite some time as I point out here and here) for the rest of Europe in committing cultural suicide. This is but just the latest example of Britain’s rabid determination to break one of the most distinguishable and binding links to their former greatness and hegemony in the Western World. Of course, they are not alone. Several other countries in Europe seem just as eager to pass out the razor blades.

I wonder what C.S. Lewis would think of his country today? Probably something along the lines of this, “A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.”

. C.S. Lewis nails it here.

We had a Christian man from France at Church speaking on religion in his country.

I was was shocked at his statics's on what % of French believe in God. 25%.

And those who did most thought God was not a deity.

90% of the French have never picked up a Bible.

You’d think that the economic collapse that we are faced with would bring some sobriety. Some return to sanity and decency. However, it seems that the lunacy is progressing unabated.

More than 100,000 Britons have recently downloaded “certificates of de-baptism” from the Internet to renounce their Christian faith.

Not surprising. This kind of thing was foretold in the bible. I do feel for the folks who are doing this. They have no idea what they have wrought.

Wow. Please go learn something about REAL child abuse before using the concept for your own gain.

We’ll be “dedicating” (baptising without the consent) our 4-year-old and 1-year-old on April 26th. Mr. Evans is welcome to bring CPS and come watch.

CPS under Obama would take your children away and put them in the home of alcoholic, methhead hippies.

In a church comprised of 50,000 Texans — I’d like to see them try. They wouldn’t get out the door.

I'll never understand these evangelical atheist types.

If you reject belief in God and Christianity, why would your childhood baptism bother you at all? From the atheist's perspective, the baptism was just some person making empty gestures and talking to an imaginary being on their behalf. Sure it seems pretty weird (again, from their perspective), but hardly something that calls for getting a "certificate" to undo the imaginary damage.

They ridicule religion for its pointless ritual and herd mentality, and then go out and decide to come up with their own group labels ("Brights") and programs for certifying their non-belief. Silly hypocrites.

I guess it's just more proof that for many, atheism really *is* just another religion.

And I say this as a skeptical agnostic.

That isn’t very comforting to hear. There is never a lack of information when discussing this topic with the West.

They actually believe that religious gestures are the cause of most of the world’s problems. They give atheism, yes, atheism itself the credit for creating science, law, and free government.

People drawn to organized atheism are truly sad and pathetic. Not satisfied to simply not believe and leave it at that, they demonstrate perverse in-your-face stance on everything that shows some deep down insecurities. I once worked with an active atheist guy that prominently displayed a cartoon equating the Boy Scouts with the KKK on his office wall. Like the idiot Bill Maher, actively giving offense to others was very important to him. Somebody that spent their entire youth having knuckles wrapped by maniacal nuns may be forgiven for this attitude to some degree, but some people’s hatred of all things Christian (Islam is OK) is sad.

As far as I know, Baptism leaves a mark on one’s soul and it cannot be reversed.
