They are not Jews. They are Christian.

They are both. Jesus was/is a jew. As were all the disciples.

And as a Jew Jesus would have been appaled to have been thought in any way divine as he struggled for the kingship of Israel. He was turned into a man-god only later.

That he was is fine for me in that the United States could not have been founded without Christians, so in this sense, God's plans seem fulfilled.

It's much more challenging for me though to say, "Sh'ma Yisrael: Adonai elohenu. Adanai echad!"

One God, beyond spacetime, though not personified.
