What does it profit a man (or woman) if he (or her spouse) gain the world (or England) but lose his (or her) immortal soul? A cynical materialistic choice made worse by the fact that this guy’s never going to be king.

I don’t know if you are coming at it from the Catholic side, but you do know that the Church of England and Roman Catholicism are not too far off from each other, don’t you?

“Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to lose his soul for the whole world... but for Wales?”

-Thomas More in “A Man For All Seasons”

I am reminded of St. Thomas More’s quip to Richard in the movie “A Man for All Seasons.” To wit:

Sir Thomas More: “Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... but for Wales?”

Are you really of the belief that no one but Catholics will get into heaven and that this girl will go to hell if she is a Protestant? If so, your belief contradicts the Catechism, which rather explicitly states that other Christian traditions may conduct one into heaven. I am looking at the relevant sections right now.

Not a Catholic myself, but her actions make me doubt that she was practicing her religion anyway. If she truly believed Catholic teaching there is no way she'd abandon her church for a mere man, while believing she was sacrificing her soul. In other words, is she really worse off now?
