I don’t know if you are coming at it from the Catholic side, but you do know that the Church of England and Roman Catholicism are not too far off from each other, don’t you?
I stand by my initial post.
There are similarities, but the biggest difference is that the Anglican Church does not recognize the authority of the Pope. And I am not sure if there are differences in their sacraments. Also, I believe they look upon the Blessed Virgin in a different way. They also allow women priests. There are enough differences.
If you seriously believe that then you are as foolish as Miss Kelly.
“...the Church of England and Roman Catholicism are not too far off from each other...” A miss is as good as a mile.
There are Anglo-Catholics who are close, but the majority of serious Christians among the Anglicans are evangelicals. The point of complaint here is that the Act of succession is more than 300 years old, and in today’s context, ridiculous. My guess is that the women is no more than a nominal Catholic anyway. The likehood of her husband suceeding is about as likely a a new ice age. She just don’t want to miss out on the formal invitations.
While the belief systems may be similar, in converting to the Church of England, Autumn has ground her 3" stiletto heel into the dirt that holds the blood of the 105 Catholic Martyrs of Tyburn, hung from the gallows for refusing to accept the King as "the only Supreme Head on earth of the Church of England".
T.S.Eliot wrote about the execution of St Thomas a Becket -
"Wherever a saint has dwelt,
wherever a Martyr has given his blood for Christ,
there is holy ground,
and the sanctity shall not depart from it."
Yeah, It's Catholic Lite.
