INN News Exclusive Interview with Benny Hinn
Interviewed by INN Correspondent Joseph Knoll
Transcript created September 6, 2007

Knoll: Pastor Hinn, I want to thank you so much for joining with us today. I know many listeners will appreciate that fact that you are willing to participate in this intimate and candid interview.

Hinn: You are welcome Joe. I’m glad to be here. I have nothing to hide. I am a servant of the living God. He is the only one I answer to.

Knoll: That’s interesting that you say you have nothing to hide. Isn’t it true that you are unwilling to disclose financial information about your ministry’s income?

Hinn: Well, Joe, that’s absolutely right. God’s money isn’t subject to the scrutiny of men. There’s no need for them to know how much is given. They should simply praise God that he is blessing the spread of the gospel. It’s none of their business.

Knoll: So then you do have something to hide.

Hinn: Well, yes I suppose that’s one way of looking at it. The correct perspective would be to trust in God’s anointed without knowing all the details.

Knoll: But doesn’t the Bible say that Christians should examine everything to determine if it is good, for example, 1 Thessalonians 5:19-221 Thessalonians 5:19-22?

Hinn: Hmm, let me open my Bible here. It does say that doesn’t it? Interesting . . .

Knoll: . . . So what is your response?

Hinn: I seem to be receiving a special word from the Lord. He’s telling me that Christians are to test everything except God’s anointed.

Knoll: But wouldn’t Paul have included this exception if that meaning was intended? There’s no exception given here.

Hinn: I’m just telling you the words I received from the Lord. I don’t ask questions.

Knoll: Doesn’t it seem that the words you just received from the Lord contradict what Paul states in Thessalonians?

Hinn: No, I don’t think so. Sometimes God’s ways are not our ways. He may do something that seems unclear or even contradictory. We have to trust Him even when we don’t understand Him.

Knoll: I understand that, but I’m not sure that the issue is that sim-

Hinn: Sure it is, the Lord spoke it. Many people were confused when I purchased an $8.5 million dollar mansion. I told them that I just did what God commanded without asking questions.

Knoll: But one statement says “examine everything,” and the other says “examine everything except.” One statement says “examine everything,” the other says “do not examine everything.” Don’t you see how obviously contradictory those two statements are?

Hinn: You’re very persistent, aren’t you, Joe? That makes a good journalist. I am somewhat of a novice journalist myself. I think my own persistence is what led to my divine connection with Jesus. I never stopped reaching for a closer relationship.

Knoll: So are the statements contradictory or do they agree?

Hinn: Like I said, I’m just saying what God said to me.

Knoll: I understand that, but can “everything” and “not everything” be the same?

Hinn: With all due respect, can we move on to something else, please?

Knoll: I would prefer not to. I think it’s important for those who follow your ministry to understand your ministry and its relationship with the Bible. So I ask you again, do the statements mean the same or are they contradictory?

Hinn: [standing up and waving arms] Look, I don’t know OK? I only told you what the Lord spoke to me. You would be wise not to question the Lord’s anointed.

Knoll: So are the statements contradictory or in agreement?

Hinn: [screaming] I don’t know!

Knoll: Are they?

Hinn: [still screaming] I said I don’t know!

Knoll: So are they?

Hinn: [screaming louder] Curse you Joe Knoll! Curse you for laying your hand against God’s anointed! Curse you for criticizing a prophecy of the Lord! Curse you and your hate of God’s chosen one!

Knoll: [sarcastically] I’m not sure sure I’m going to live through today, it seems. After being cursed four times in a row, I’ll probably be hit by a bus or something like that. Would you mind maybe taking two or three of those curses back so I’ll have a better chance of living?

Hinn: [walks out]

Knoll: Fiddlesticks, I still didn’t get an answer to my question. -

If the government was only as interested in watching their own budget instead of getting into Church’s budgets and examining how they spend their money.

Here's my question for Benny Hinn: I know it's fun chasing the nubiles around, but you weren't exactly a spring chicken. Didn't you ever get tired?

What's that? Oh, that's Benny Hill.

Who's Benny Hinn?

Whatever happened to accountability?

If someone won’t tell me what they do with the money they receive in donations, they ain’t getting any of mine.

This is the sort of thing that’s a real black mark on Christianity and used against it by those who hate it.

Is that for real??????????

I’ve heard of Benny Hinn but never seen any pictures of him.

What the heck was going on there?

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I’d rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Than to be a king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway,
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I’d rather be true to His holy name.

He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out of the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs,
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

That’s one of my favorite songs. Look for a recording of it by Alison Krause and the Cox Family—it’s beautiful.

I’m sick of evangelists like Benny Hinn. In NY, he’d be on some stations very early in the morning. At the end, when he’d hold up his hands, close his eyes, and whisper how someone’s been cured of cancer, etc. I’d roll my eyes.

This is a parody isn’t it? From the Onion? Could this be for real? It is unbelievable. And people give this guy their hard earned money? So sad.

Bill O’Reilly could have used him in the confrontation with Barack Obama’s guard the other day...

Hinn is apostate, at best. Best the “interview” - as funny and accurate as it is - is satire; ergo not likely true.

There’s no need for them to know how much is given.

Sure there is, Benny. It's called being accountable to fellow believers. It's a process that helps you stay the course and avoid temptation.

But then, maybe those aren't important to you.

I would still like to know why Benny Hinn needs bodyguards.
