The MOD started pushing amniocentisis to facilitate the discovery of defects in children in the womb. Then, they claimed they were able to 'reduce' the number of children born with birth defects. This wasn't from any advance in medical knowledge or treatment of the unborn, it was simply because, using the 'search and destroy' method, they were able to identify these kids before birth, in order to PREVENT them being born.

That's when they stopped getting any support from me.

I understand that they did discover the link between inadequate folic acid and neural tube defects (Spina bifida or anancephaly) and pushed for more folic acid in our diet, with the result that those defects have greatly decreased in recent years. Other than that most of their “birth defect prevention” seems to be killing babies with potential defects.

No support from me, either.
