I think he is referring to Mitt Romney. MHGinTN is an avid anti-Mormon and considers Mitt an enemy to Christianity and now apparently a servant of Anti-Christ.

Yeah, like I'm going to believe some writings (stashed away in a cave for 2 millennia) from some First Century recluse hippies over the Received Text - the Living Word... The Dead Sea scrolls contain interesting stuff, no doubt, but they aren't Scripture - and are more useful for anthropological studies than for theology.

Well Said.

I think this whole report is quite misleading. For those who know anything about the Dead Sea Scrolls, it's common knowlege that most of them were written pre-Christ. There is a 300 year gap betwen the end of the OT and the start of the NT. The Messianic teachings of many of the scrolls are much like Isaiah, prophesiing of the messiah, but even more so. To me they support the biblical texts in a way that we simply haven't had before. The bible is scoffed at by un-believers today more so than any time in history. The scrolls have texts goign back 1000 years than was previosuly known. They contain EVERY single OT book except 1, I forget which one. They also contain the Prophecies by Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Daniel not found in the current bible. I just don't see why all the DSS bashing is going on?

And as far as Christian texts withing the DDS, that is still being debated.

Here is a couple of references that I'll pass on, and then be quiet. The first one is from the DSS, the next, from the NT.

4Q246 “...he will be called great...and by his name he will be designated...’Son of God’ will he be called and ‘Son of the Most High’ they will call him....His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom and all his ways will be truth. He will jud[ge] the earth in truth and all will make peace. The sword will cease from the earth and all provinces will worship him. The great God will be his patron...His sovereignty is everlasting sovereignty...” (Shanks, p. 69)

(Luke 1:32 NIV) “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,

(Luke 1:33 NIV) and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”

And this one is thought to be actual verbage from the texts of St. Mark.

“...for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened
And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Genessaret and moored the boat...” (A Gospel among the Scrolls?, Graham Stanton, Bible Review, December 1995)

If anyone is interested, here's an interesting link on 25 facinating facts about the DDS's.
