Whenever God gives a vision to a Christian, it is as if He puts him in "the shadow of His hand" (Isaiah 49:2). The saints duty is to be still and listen. There is a "darkness" that comes from too much light - that is the time to listen. The story of Abram and Hagar in Genesis 16 is an excellent example of listening to so-called good advice during a time of darkness, rather than waiting for God to send the light. When God gives you a vision and darkness follows, wait. God will bring the vision He has given you to reality in your life if you will wait on His timing. Never try to help God fulfill His word. Abram went through thirteen years of silence, but in those years all of his self-sufficiency was destroyed. He grew past the point of relying on his own common sense. Those years of silence were a time of discipline, not a period of Gods displeasure. There is never any need to pretend that your life is filled with joy and confidence; just wait upon God and be grounded in Him (see Isaiah 50:10-11).
Do I trust at all in the flesh? Or have I learned to go beyond all confidence in myself and other people of God? Do I trust in books and prayers or other joys in my life? Or have I placed my confidence in God Himself, not in His blessings? "I am Almighty God . . ." El-Shaddai, the All-Powerful God (Genesis 17:1). The reason we are all being disciplined is that we will know God is real. As soon as God becomes real to us, people pale by comparison, becoming shadows of reality. Nothing that other saints do or say can ever upset the one who is built on God.
In 1910 Chambers married Gertrude Hobbs. They had one daughter, Kathleen, who still resides in London (as of 1992).
In 1911 he founded and became principal of the Bible Training College in Clapham, London, where he lectured until the school was closed in 1915 because of World War I. In October 1915 he sailed for Zeitoun, Egypt (near Cairo), where he ministered to Australian and New Zealand troops as a YMCA chaplain. He died there November 15, 1917, following surgery for a ruptured appendix.
My Utmost for His Highest, his best-known book, has been continuously in print in the United States since 1935 and in this, the last decade of the century, remains in the top ten titles of the religious book bestseller list with millions of copies in print. It has become a Christian classic. [from the flyleaf of the book]
Absolutely no flaming! These daily threads are intended to be devotional in nature. If a particular day's offering says nothing to you, please just go on and wait for the next day. Consider these threads a DMZ of sorts, a place where a perpetual truce is in effect and a place where all other arguments and disagreements from other times and places are left behind.
I can attest from personal experience that reading from Chambers daily will almost certainly change - not one's faith - but one's perspective of his/her own faith, and open up new vistas in your spiritual life. If - when - this happens to a reader of these threads, and they choose to share what has happened within them - we are treading on hallowed ground. Be respectful.

Akiane [ah-key-ah-nee] says, "He's explaining Himself, to me; and what He does, to this world." (Her emphasis!)
Thank You, Glorious Father, Eternal Son, Holy, Holy, Holy Spirit, for Your witness, Akiane!
"I, too, Give Witness to the Greatness of God, our Lord, High Above All Other gods. He Does just as He Pleases; However, Wherever, Whenever!" (Ps.135:5)
Praise-sharing bump.
Sometimes it's hard to wait patiently for God's perfect timing, to bring his plans into fruition in our lives.
Thank God for this young lady! I wasn't able to use your link, .30Carbine, but the tinyurl came up just fine: here.
Her painting that looks like bubbles is indeed very similar to a "vision" I had in response to an urgent prayer to understand the meaning of the Cross. The response was an image of a great Light from the Cross reaching across all of space and time - and innumerable bubbles, tiny bubbles, rising up out of the darkness and disappering into the Light. We Christians are those tiny bubbles.
Notice the beautiful colors she uses - this brings again the metaphor of gemstones hosepipe, Quix and I have been discussing on another thread!
Her vision is more like an panorama of galaxies, nebulae and such - whereas mine was more graphic - but they are very close indeed.
The other thing, she paints upon one of bubbles what appears to be a man. This too is like my night travels ("visions") wherein distance and proportion mean nothing. I could embrace a galaxy at one instance and sit in a rose bud the next. LOL!
Maranatha, Jesus!
Could not load the video.. but I think I get the idea..
Have had a couple of "visions" myself.. Was a christian many years and didn't even BELIEVE in visions.. Then PoP Kapow.. I had one.. The second one I wrote a book about.. or better some musings.. "book" is a little much.. I saw spirits as some kind of plasma "thing".. plasma bubbles maybe.. The bubbles could merge and unmerge.. While merged thoughts merged.. Language was obsolete, uneeded..
Did I say I didn't believe in "visions"?... LoL... Even now I don't know what to call it.. but vision works I guess.. Not a dream but very realistic.. Actually changed my view of things.. this ugh.. vision..
I do relate to spirit/plasma as bubbles.. The bubbles could shape it/them selves but shape was not really needed.. The bubbles could be generally circular not necessarily round.. Gender, clothing and bodily needs(cold/hot) were not needed..
In the vision, the group of spirits I was merged with traveled the Universe.. creating lifeform societys.. on planets.. Or just to travel and check things out.. Much much faster than the speed of light..
Anyway this post brings back my vision to my mind..
Visions do happen.. I can testify.. whether anyobne believes me or not.. A few years ago, I wouldn't believe me.. LoL..
Didn't happen with me that way.. I walked around AWAKE doing stuff on one of them.. when I learned I was a priest and a King..
On another one I wrote down what I was seeing on my word processor in the morning after prayer.. happened for 3 weeks in the morning.. then it all went away..
Have not had one since..
The similarities are amazing. There is no language in mine either; I sense I could ask a question but I don't want or need to. It is altogether beautiful and satisfying.
In visions it could be that "the Observer" could relate to things as their mind could grasp easily.. John in the Book of Revelation comes to mind.. That book is the revelation of Jesus Christ(John ch1;1) but the vision is given to John to transcribe.. According maybe to what his mind could have grasped.. Because visions seem to be composed of metaphorical images in content.. In my case anyway..
The bubble thing set me off this time.. BUT the other times where you related your "dreams" it when over my head.. Maybe because several of us saw what seemed to be bubbles.. Marbles in jello could appear to be bubbles too.. if you know what I mean..
Interesting subject "visions"...

If we who are commanded are able with the command to do this, O! how much more does He Who Loves Us and Made Us to Conform to the Image of His Beloved Only Son, pour out this encouragement upon and in and through and for and among us while we wait for the Blessed Appearing (for when He appears we shall be like Him, for we shall be face-to-face)! Amen! Even so - Showers of Blessings from the Father!
