Patriarch of Serbia thanks Alexy II for support in restoring Orthodox churches in Kosovo
Interfax ^ | 11 August 2005

Moscow, August 11, Interfax - In a letter, which came to Moscow this week, Patriarch Pavle of Serbia thanked the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church for his support in building and restoring Serbian shrines.

According to Patriarch Pavle, Alexy II has given this support ‘in the spirit of love, which has united our Orthodox sister Churches for centuries’, Interfax has been informed Thuesday by the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations.

The Patriarch of Serbia’s letter has become a reply to an earlier letter of Patriarch Alexy welcoming the memorandum of understanding signed between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Kosovo provisional self-government as it establishes basic principles of cooperation in restoring Orthodox churches in Kosovo.

The primate of the Russian Orthodox Church has repeatedly appealed to political leaders in Western countries and leaders of international organizations to ensure the restoration of Kosovo shrines as part of the heritage of all European nations.

Patriarch Pavle reminded that during the last raid in March 2004, over 30 Orthodox churches were destroyed or severely damaged, 800 Serbian houses were burnt down, 4000 people were driven away from their villages. In total, over 222 thousand Serbs and members of other non-Albanian communities have been driven away from Kosovo and Metochia and about 150 Serbian Orthodox churches have been desecrated or destroyed since June 1999.

It sounds like ethnic cleansing to me - but sorry - you are the wrong religion and skin color for the west to care...

Just more of the consequences of Clinton's America turning on an ally and supporting the secessionists in the Yugoslav civil war, then putting the nation's elected leader on display in an international (kangaroo) court.
Between Communism and Islam, Albania couldn't support its own population so it spilled over into the Serbian province of Kosovo.

While Milosevic was a brutal ex-Communist thug who clearly went beyond the pale toward Albanian population, giving Kosovo to Al-Qaida allied Kosovo Liberation Army and its cronies was probably the craziest thing Clinton and Blair did. They gave Islamists their own Country in Balkans on the edge of Europe.

"The West will not remain proud of what it has done to the Serbs. Certainly now that you are heading for serious problems with Islamic terrorists. We will no longer protect Europe against Islamic terrorism. Let them go, to Europe [the Bosnian Muslims]. They look like Europeans. And they take pride in the fact that with their European appearance they are exceptionally efficient terrorists. Europe wanted an Islamic country here. Let them have it!" [And "let them have it," we did! Bosnia has become al-Qaeda's and Bin Laden's corridor into Europe.] Interview with Radovan Karadzic by the Dutch publication, De Standaard on 16 October 1995 by Axel Buyse in Banja Luca.

He did do ethnic cleansing of Kosovo--right ? Let's separate one thing from another--Milosevic Behavior toward Kosovar Albanians and the policies of Clinton Administration/Nato/Britain of establishing a Kosovo anclave with KLA at the helm.

Remember how Clinton said that there were 100,000 bodies? Then it became 50,000, then 36,000, end result? 2,500 or so and at least a fourth were genetically proven to be Serbs and Roma. Hmmmm.

"Milosevic Behavior toward Kosovar Albanians and the policies of Clinton Administration/Nato/Britain of establishing a Kosovo anclave with KLA at the helm."

The violence started with the KLA around 1996. There was no ethnic violence perpetrated against the Albanians until the KLA started killing and terrorizing Serb police and civilians around then.

The launching of KLA attacks and upswing of violence started (and not coincidentally) after the Bosnian war finished and the U.S., CIA, BND could move their assets and attention to Kosovo.

The whole thing was schemed and planned by outside powers with separatists working as proxies. Yugoslavia was divided upon old fault lines created by the Ottomans, Austrians, Germans and other heavy meddlers in the area. Now the torch lead and carried by the U.S. with most of the European governments going along.

Thank you Alexy!! For your humanitarian giving and spirit of love!

And thank you Greece, also, for all the aid you have given in love over the years, to Serbia and Beslan.

All he did was write a letter. He hasn't restored any of the churches or monasteries from what I can see.

I don't think they would share with you personally the details of the "cooperation" they have agreed to. :-)

That said Russia has sent much humanitarian aid to Serbia on two occasions, and that was primarily what I was referring to.

Good for the Russian Orthodox Church! What a blessing!!!

Now we need the Serb army and police to come back into Kosovo, and make the rebuilt chuches safe and full of worshipping congregations. Kosovo is Serbia!!!!

Clinton as usual couldn't get the things straight. However, it does not make Milosevic anything else than a brutal thug. I'm firmly against whitewashing Milosevic in light of Islamist threats to Western Civilization. In the end, what he did in Kosovo was inexcusable, by burning villages and throwing out ordinary Albanians from their homes.

However, Clinton/Nato Policies of granting Kosovo a de-facto independence with KLA reigning supreme is a huge geopolitical mistake. They essentially allowed Islamists to get their own country in Europe.

What Western World is need is to make arrangements between Kosovo and Serbia with conditions that Kosovo will not be fully independent of Serbia. Serbs also have political and legal rights to Kosovo and Albanians after all have Albania. What's needed is some arrangement under which Kosovo will receive some internationally guaranteed semi-independent status with Serbia having right to veto foreign policies of Kosovo leadership and with Serbian people rights to live in Kosovo.

NATO should impose a martial law in Kosovo to prevent or minimize any attacks of Albanians on Serbs and their churches, monasteries and other sacred buildings and create conditions for Serbian refugees to return to Kosovo. I realize it's not easy but compromise is essential. Giving Kosovo a formal independence means giving Islamic separatists victory and furthering Islamists goals of Europe and the world conquest. At the same time, Albanians as ordinary people, who live in Kosovo for generations deserve security too. So compromise is needed and firmly enforced. That's how I see it.

I agree, Joan. However, Milosevic clearly went beyond the pale toward Albanians when his forces brutally attacked villages and started throwing out Albanians from their homes, killing them at random and expelling the others. This was an ethnic cleansing. My position is this: Serbia and Serbs have political rights to Kosovo so both Serbs and Albanians should make a compromise that would insure that Kosovo does not become fully independent from Serbia and Serbs can live securely in Kosovo (enforced by NATO martial law for a while), while Albanians should have security guarantees too. The ordinary Albanians deserve to live in Kosovo too where they lived for generations. They could have some Western guaranteed semi-independent (but not fully independent) quasi-state with Serbia retaining the right to veto specified political decisions (related to foreign policy) made by the Kosovo legislature and political leadership. Also Serbs should be able to live and settle in Kosovo freely without any restrictions. Basically, I'm proposing a loose, NATO supervised union of Serbia and Kosovo.

The bottom line is--I'm against Kosovo independence. No sane person wants an officially Islamic State in Europe with AL-Qaeda allies KLA at the top.

A particular irritation was the intentional silence of the Vatican toward the "....other half of the lung...." - as the previous clelebrity pope spoke of the Orthodox Church - when America was in full support of assisting Albanian muslims in their determined attempt to totally destroy Sacred Orthodox sites in Kosovo, defacing Holy Icons, alters, churches and chapels. All this taking place while the Muslims who hate America - because it is primarily a Christian nation - were killing Yugoslavian Christians in Kosovo.
