The wheat and tares parable and the parable of the net on the seashore are especially appropriate in this situation. Lutherans teach simul justus et peccator that the Church consists of justified sinners, persons, who though clothed the in righteousness of Christ continue to struggle against sin until the end of their earthly day. Frequently they fail and fall in that struggle. It is a very honest assessment of the human condition and a good summation of Romans 7.

The wheat and the tares seem to indicate that there are 2 categories: (1) justified sinners, and (2) some additional category of those who only seem to belong, but they never really have.

Am I interpreting your paragraph correctly?
