Isn't this great?! I think we all realize along with Thomas Sowell that we vote for Arnold, "and hope for the best." As DoughtyOne said, we may all find within a few days that we're yelling and hooting at Arnold for some policy initiative, but right now, the destruction of Gray Davis' political career, and the abrupt ending of his Administration is one of the most glorious political achievements I've ever witnessed. We may be at Arnold's throat tomorrow, but today I sense nothing but optimism for this state, and for the longer-term success for the goals that we all hold to.

I've stayed out of this one, living next door in Arizona, thus not having an actual vote, but I believe that California can take a huge step towards returning from exile by electing the Terminator tomorrow. This is as big a grassroots election as seen anywhere in the nation since Proposition 13 was passed a quarter of a century ago, ironically in the same state.

In 1992, true believers voted for Ross Perot and instead elected the slimey weasel Clinton and his noxious wife. We are still dealing with the consequences of that misguided vote. Please don't do it again.

Twenty one years ago, California faced an absolute bloodbath in its Republican gubernatorial primary. Lieutenant Governor Mike Curb, a true believer, faced the more pragmatic George Deukmajian, with the latter coming out victorious. The Democrats were certain that Tom Bradley would win the governorship, but the GOP warfare made them so overconfident they were lulled to sleep. Republicans and Independents pulled together behind the Duke and on an election night where the Crats and Bolshies won everywhere else, California elected one of its finest governors.

I was a Mike Curb guy back then. But Deukmajian made a heck of a governor. The same opportunity is there again. I second Jim Robinson's appeal for those of you in the Golden State to vote for Arnold S.

Listening to McClintock this evening, I am beginning to believe he stayed in simply to help the recall pass. He knows some of his supporters could not vote for Arnold, so he gave them another option. I just wish he had kept the negative critique of Arnold a little more toned down but some habits are hard to overcome...the competitive nature of politics, for one! He probably will be OK in his career and he certainly has had an abundance of national exposure these past 2 months! He has become somewhat of a symbol and hero it seems for conservatives, like the Judge Roy Moore & the 10 Commandments.

what would it cost to target say one or two democrap senators in our state? for a recall now?

if we take the batttle to them NOW, it will cripple them for the next election because they will have to fight, simply out of fear that we are on to them. big time. Are there ANY vulnerable dems in our state government we could now turn our sites on to pick off? Why stop scoring goals when the opposing team is cowering on the sidelines??? to be fair to them?

They need to realize if we can do this for governator, we might go for the gold... with a bunch of em... It might enable to snap a few of them back into reality, and make them DEAL with our guys in the state house...

Califorinians might want to hang more than just Grayout if we whip up sentiment enough... just a thought... out loud of course...

I don't think all the democrap leaders are really aware at how PISSED OFF dems are at their own leaders... can we run up the score on em?

Dear Jim,

Thank you for such a heartfelt and persuasive post.

I hope and pray that today's election will emulate what happened here in California in 1978 when Proposition 13 passed overwhelmingly despite a ferocious propaganda war from the left. This recall reminds me so much of that election and it is just as important.

It is within our power and our responsibility to turn the tide of corruption which has blanketed this state by Gray Davis and those like him. That is why I believe your message was so important and I am glad you communicated that to all of us.

We have to remember that the citizens of California stood up in June of 1978.

We have to stand up again, today, October 7, 2003.

I will pray for Arnold and hope God touches his heart and he realizes Abortion is morally wrong.

The odds are good because Arnold has a basically good heart.

I wish I could take research credit. I read Mowry's The California Progressives back in 1967 for a college research paper. I was quite captivated by Johnson's invective, as well as by the whole Progressive revolt against the corruption of both parties in California (I'm a 5th generation Californian and was very interested in how the power of the railroad affected my family's agriculture and wine interests). The quote stuck with me and, when I picked up a copy of the book for my library years later, I marked the page with Johnson's wonderful blast at Otis and the LA Times. The parallels between the 1910 revolt and this year's recall are not insignificant.

I agree. Think Norm Coleman. He absolutely shut up Mondale in the debates on this issue by simply pointing out why he had a change of heart. He didn't offend, he didn't preach that he was holier than Walt, he just spoke from the heart.

I spent my afternoon yesterday at the final stop on Arnold's campaign trail - the San Bernardino Airport. I heard what he said then - and I have since watched what little the media has said about that stop. It's really a crying shame, when you get down to it. Having been a newsprint reporter (and still being a freelancer), it hurts to watch.

From standing and watching, I can say with all honesty that there were dozens of television cameras there. There were dozens of photographers there. Heck, there was probably in the vicinity of three thousand or more people who came to attend and to support Arnold, not counting the campaign workers - these were off-the-street people. Some heard about it from their kids, who heard about it at school; others got pamphlets distributed, or picked up an informational leaflet at Republican offices. Still others just happened to be driving by and stopped to join in.

Yet, having watched the local 5am news reports, they basically blipped past Arnold, then focused on everything Bustamante and Davis were doing on their respective campaign trails yesterday. They announced the locations of both the Democrat number-watching events for this evening, yet they seemingly forgot to say where Arnold or McClintock would be.

We have to send a message to the media, to the Democrat party, and to the rest of California. This just can't continue.

This morning, I will be helping to man the phone lines at a local Republican office, wearing my brand new Join Arnold t-shirt that I printed an iron-on transfer for last night. (Incidentally, you can download the bumper sticker image on Arnold's website, and it makes for a great t-shirt transfer. I did shirts for the hubby and kid, too, just for fun.) I hope many others get out and be active in promoting the Arnold vote, however they can.

Thanks for starting this thread, Jim... now's really the time that we all must focus our energies upon taking the state back out of the hands of the lying and greedy, and putting it squarely in the hands of someone who can do some good with it. Nobody's perfect... but Arnold's a heckuva lot better than the Democrat alternatives.
