I think it was Thomas Sowell who (pre-LA Times late-hits) advised to "vote for Schwarzenegger and hope for the best." He (Arnold) MUST be kept in line once in office -- not allowed to run left on the fiscal issues on which he DID promise conservatism.

Second those sentiments. My heart was with Tom, but my brain and hand checked Arnold. The LA Times and the Slimey Progressives went way beyond civility in an attempt to crush Arnold.

Now that it has come to pass (and Prop 54 flamed out), I certainly hope He does. It was, at best, a half-full glass last night. You guys will manage to survive fiscally the next couple years, but somehow I strongly doubt that any other portion of the conservative agenda will make any headway (look at Prop 54).

I could offer reasons why Arnold became an inevitability, but you know them better than I do. Suffice it to say, conservatives don't control the California Republican Party.
