"The latest Field Poll shows Schwarzenegger leading Bustamante 36 percent to 26 percent. Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock runs third with 15 percent."
===
I remember some people waiting for the Field poll, before they were willing to accept reality that McClintock doesn't have a chance, well, here it is.

And in case anyone missed this:
"The conservative Lincoln Club of Orange County sent a letter to trailing candidate and state Sen. Tom McClintock on Wednesday asking him to live up to earlier promises that he wouldn't become a spoiler for Republicans in the recall race.
"With the historic recall election next Tuesday you not only risk splitting the Republican vote, but you risk your standing as California's conservative standard bearer," club president Tracy Price wrote in the letter. "Being a man of integrity in the end means doing what's right for everyone, not just Tom McClintock."
Only 15 percent of likely voters surveyed in the LA Times poll said they planned to vote for McClintock. By staying in the race, Republican leaders fear McClintock could either jeopardize any chance of unseating Davis or could throw the election to Bustamante.

This being the Field Poll, Arnold is probably plus 40 and Busty is down to about 20 with Pro-recall at 60. Arnold may lose some votes because of the slime fest currently in full swing, but he'll stil win.

If McClintock stays in, he is finished poltically as far as higher office goes.

McClintock runs third with 15 percent15% is a big chunk of electoral real estate.
The CRP and the RNC can ignore and marginalize conservatives in the bizzar circumstances of this recall but take heart fellow Freepers. They can't ignore conservatives in the general election process.
If a popular conservative is inserted to oppose Bush in the next California presidential primary this 15%, at the very least, is going to be the nucleus of a very embarrasing primary for the RNC.

Interesting and thanks for posting it, as I had missed the stuff about the Linclon Club news.

Tomorrow is about McClintock's real LAST CHANCE to get out and salvage his career. If he stays in and the Dems retain control of CA, because of his obstinence, he can never live that down in CA.

If McClintock stays in, he is finished poltically as far as higher office goes. If McClintock drops out, there is no way in hell the recall will pass. Y'all need the Tom supporters.

We won't know until Tuesday, but I don't see the smears energizing Democrats much, or depressing GOP turnout. Davis will be recalled.

The reason you missed it, was because there were no articles with this in the title. I found it at the bottom of another article taking about the Democrats's post election strategy. The media doesn't exactly want to publicize this, they are too busy bashing Arnold and praising McClintock, and I'll give you one guess, as to why.

The L.A. Times article was hysterical.
One of these 6 sexually harassed women was a Playboy bunny who was offended by his language.
[The Times evidentally can't count because I remember 9 stories they gossiped about.]
One woman said she was trapped three different times in a elevator with him and he tried to pull down the robe over her bathing suit. (And Mr. Olympia was too weak to pull off her robe??? Three times???)
One was the British interviewer who witnesses say cupped her breasts, asked "What do you think of these?", sat in his lap and then was escorted from the room by his security people.
One was a woman who had her hair pulled from behind. She also claims to have witnessed him horsing around and spreading a woman's legs.
Then a waitress says he made an obscene comment to her, but her collaborating witness is in the Bahamas.
In 1975 he evidently squeezed a breast of a woman whose husband was nearby.
And on a movie set he supposedly pulled a woman into his lap and made an obscene remark to her.
We also have his grabbing a woman's buttock while her supervisor was present on a movie lot and saying she had a nice one and would she like to join him at his daily work out?
The worst is while he was a single guy he harassed a woman by inviting her to his apartment several times, the last time touching her breast.
There you have it. The dog that didn't bark in the night.

I agree... those 10 to 15% are NOT going to look the other way with these recent revelations. If Tom bails, they'll either vote against the recall or not vote at all...

Did the Lincoln Club ask Arnold to send Riordan a letter of apology for running for governor when he said he wasn't going to?
