The board of directors of the California Republican Party last night joined the growing list of influential state party organizations to support actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Oct. 7 recall election of Gov. Gray Davis.
After a closed-door meeting, the board unanimously backed Mr. Schwarzenegger despite the presence of a second Republican candidate, state Sen. Tom McClintock, on the ballot.

"HE CANT WIN! HE CANT WIN! THATS WHY I SOLD MY CONSERVATIVE SOUL AND SUPPORTED ARNOLD"
ROTFLM Freeping AO
It is a CNN poll.Don't you think that it's odd McC's numbers are that much higher on the CNN poll? The libs want you to believe McC will win if Arnold drops out. Looks like many are buying it.
15. Do you think that Arnold Schwarzenegger is or is not capable of governing the state of California? Yes, is 56 No, is not 39 No opinion 5Gallup Poll
Just like the swallowed the swill form the LA Times.
Any other time they'd be denouncing the Times and CNN for the liberal rags that they are. But...desperation breeds desperate acts.
From the poll:
"Here's the breakout of the projected vote by party identification among registered voters: Vote for Candidate to Replace Gray Davis, by Partisanship
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican
16% Democrats
35% Ind
56% Republican
Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, a Democrat
56% Democrats
21% Ind
3% Republican
State Sen. Tom McClintock, a Republican
2% Democrats
18% Ind
29% Republican"
6. If the choice were between Cruz Bustamante, the Democrat and Tom McClintock, the Republican, who would you be more likely to vote for: Cruz Bustamante or Tom McClintock?Registered Voters 2003 Sep 25-27 Bustamante 42% McClintock 49%
For results based on the sample of 787 Californians who are registered to vote, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points.
That is different than the 56% some LIARS on this forum are quoting.
Lies, lies,lies......there are those who actually believe this lie.

No measurable difference in final results... I'm voting for Tom.
If he doesn't win, I'll blame the 'party leaders' for their poor judgment.
Not sure why someone quoting the 56% is a liar in your mind. I would think a poll of probable voters would be more reliable than that of simply "registered voters" who may not even vote. Nice to see Tom wins that head to head matchup too btw.
As far as apples and oranges, I was not comparing anything. I posted the result of one section of the poll for a head to head matchup. Then, in response to your eronious statement, I posted the only info from the poll that I found that broke things down by party. I made no comparisons betweens these two sets of numbers.
Either McClintock or Schwarzenegger Likely Winner in California if Other Dropped Out
Most of vote for one candidate would go to other
PRINCETON, NJ -- With Arnold Schwarzenegger the Republican front-runner in the California gubernatorial contest, many GOP officials have pressured California State Sen. Tom McClintock to drop out of the race, fearing he will divide the Republican vote and allow Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante to win. A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted over the past weekend, shows that McClintock does indeed draw support away from Schwarzenegger, though not enough to deprive the actor of the lead. But the poll also shows that if Schwarzenegger were not in the race, McClintock would likely be in first place by a substantial margin rather than behind Bustamante.
ummm.....looks like Busta wins, 46 to 45.
Really? Can you link to the part of the poll that shows the 46 to 45 numbers? Maybe you could use it against those people who "lie" with that made up 56% number .
Things just get stranger and stranger!
Given that Bustamante is looking very weak, I am sure the Dems (Davis) would prefer to win this via a "no Recall". If the alternatives are "no recall"/Davis vs. a Republican, it seems they would be in a stronger position. I wouldn't put it past Gray to be the one smearing Bustamante at any chance.
