WASHINGTON -- New Jersey's U.S. attorney told Congress yesterday that violent street gangs represent a growing public threat and must be attacked with the same force and methods used against traditional organized crime families.
Christopher Christie's appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee came as his office in Newark announced charges against an East Orange man they said helped provide firearms to gang members in Newark and other parts of Essex County.

My old neighbor - someone who is connected with DOJ - told me, "If you ever wake in the middle of the night to sounds of an intruder, you'd better PRAY it's an adult."
He says teens kill just to watch someone die... That it's a kick to them.

Lex Mob, the Elvis Irizarry Crew, the Double II Bloods and the James Bond Gang LOL - Is this from The Onion? These gangs are cornier than those gangs from the 1979 movie "Warriors."
Great movie, BTW...especially watching young Sean Penn whine at the end.

Christie said that for the third straight year, the murder rate in Newark has risen as has the number of handguns recovered."The rise in violence and unlawful gun possession corresponds directly to a substantial increase in documented gang activity beginning in 1999," he said.
Actually, the rise in violence and unlawful gun possession corresponds directly to a substantial reduction (more like a complete elimination) of vehicle searches on the New Jersey Turnpike. We can't have any "racial profiling" in this state, now can we?

My sentiments exactly.
Since the end of the searches on the Turnpike 4 police officers in the area have been shot to death. A woman in East Orange, then 2 detectives in NYC who were ambushed and another woman in Fairlawn.
