And so it falls to an engineer (whose stock in trade is in matters technical) to point out that the AP journalist (whose stock in trade is communications -- in English) got it wrong in the opening sentence!

"Blond" is the word used for men with, um, well, yellow hair. "Blonde" is the word used for women. I guess with all the effort learning one's way around political correctness, and continually updating that knowledge as the winds shift, they don't have time to learn basic English. And no spell-checker is going to see this one.

The inference is blonde = dumb, and they give it to you right up front. No bias there. Nope. And it ends by telling you Franken found a lie just casually flipping through the book, so it infers that it must be all lies if you look closely.

Actually, that has not been true for years. Most editors are leaning towards blond. You can use blonde optionally, but there is no such rule anymore in style books. Just as cigarette has been shortened to cigaret. Per cent has been consolidated to percent. --Raoul
