Need help finding video/photos of Thunderbird crash

My friend was talking about video that shows the pilot waving to the crowd just minutes after the crash in Boise. Apparently the footage is really impressive. I have searched the heck out of the internet and I just cannot find any pics and vids. It is almost as if they have been pulled for a reason??? If you have any links, I would greatly appreciate it

It wasn't in Boise, it was in Mt. Home ID. I believe. That may be why you can't find it...

You are correct. It was Mtn Home Air Force base. about 70 miles from Boise.

Sometimes a Free Republic search is a zillion times better than Google. :-)

video (although it doesn't show the pilot waving to the crowd!)

I guess it does have one of the pilot as he's ejecting.

Is this a recent event?

Check www.feedroom.com and scroll through their "Top Stories". Theres video of a crash titled: "Fighter Jet Crash".

Nothing after the crash, though.

Amen to that, friend! :-)

As often as I've used Google, I've never made one friend over there.

Here are links to a sequence of stills from calcowgirl's #15

-----------------------

Ejection: jettisoned cockpit canopy to the left and pilot barely detached from his seat; plane skidding on ground; no fire yet.

Pilot clear of seat; still no fire

Fire ignites; pilot clear of fire

What appears to be (but probably is not) seat falling into/behind fire

Possibly pilot on chute, beyond smoke (framed by clear "arch" under left side of smoke -- just to left of narrow vertical smoke column)

-----------------------

All in all, a pretty remarkable sequence taken by various spectators -- but no "waving pilot" that I could find... (Not surprising, IMHO, because the eye -- and camera -- usually follows the most dramatic spectacle...the fireball.)

And on the PA
"Ladies and Gentlemen, that concludes our demonstaration of the ACES 2, zero zero ejection seat - sorry for the noise. Next is our demonstration of the airfield high speed fire trucks..."

More than a little happy to see the pilot was successful on the boldface procedures......
