The so-called "food pyramid" was designed by LAWYERS and
not nutritional and mineral metabolism scientists.

Now I wonder why?

Ironically, milk IS to blame. The real blame for childhood opbesity is printed on milk cartons. The photos of missing children that have turned a generation of parents into worried weenies who are irrationally afraid to let the kids out in the world on their own. No more biking to the mall or little league, or walking to school.

Now, the kids get chauffeured by the parental security detail, never burining a calorie, and with that rear-seat cupholder always full of something tasty.

I DRINK WHOLE MILK. I LOVE WHOLE MILK. 2% IS OK; BUT SKIM SUCKS. SO DOES 1%.

My suggestion is to cut down the number of subjects and build in more play time. We are overloading our children with useless lessons. The only thing schools at that age level s hould do is teach the basics, build a love for learning and how to self learn and let the child do the reast--the way the Romans and Greeks used to do it.

But fat assed soccer moms think standardized tests and uber lesson programs are what is needed to make sure their little darlings make it. We are grading and testing our children into being both fat and stupidity.

I also read a report where children between 7th and 8th grade experiance no cognitive growth. Why not have a whole year for those ages off from school - instead have them go on camping trips--a year of sports education (which teaches sportsmanship and team cooperation-essential ingredients for a democracy)-swim camps-etc.

Let education be fun-the way it used to be for the Greeks and Romans befire we adopted the British torture method of education.

Arlen Specter may not be as popular as the establishment thinks. Of the 248 respondents to our Sept. 10 poll question, 239 said he wasn't doing a good job as senator.

Specter is now spending big money telling listeners how great a district attorney he was. He couldn't even find the bookie outside his office door in Philly.

Educators Frown on Whole Milk

Typical idiots, knowing as little about nutrition as they do education.

Let every boy who can do 10 pull-ups have a pass for a free period in lieu of gym. Give every girl who can do 300 jump ropes in 5 minutes the same consideration. Teach those who can't the exercises that will let them can.

It boggles my mind that something like this hasn't been tried.
