GarySeedy? There's seedy areas in many towns. I'll admit that Gary is definitly much more run down than it was when I lived there (and I'm glad my folks finally moved out this past spring), but I wouldn't define it as 'seedy'.
As in many urban areas, there are places that you don't dare go after dark. And there are certainly a large share of abandoned property (although the city has demolished the vast majority of it by now), but there are likewise plenty of nicer neighborhoods where nice homes (and nice people) reside.

She had been sitting with a man in a sport utility vehicle shortly after midnight when "somehow they had become involved in a confrontation with the local residents," Pena said. That definitely doesn't sound good...

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

They're "potato guns."
(And that's about all I know.
MST3K
once did a punchline
about potato guns, so
they're real, and they shoot
little potato
pieces, but that's all I know.
Any lurkers know?)

hrmn... MST3K might have been referring to "spud guns" which are indeed real, and great fun to build and use.
never heard of the things you posted, though.
I'm pinging the bang list on this.

Sorry about Gary.
My point to be more concise was that before going to Compton I expected a really rough environment like South Bronx or Cabrini Green and when I saw it, I was reminded of more of the lower middle class neighborhood I grew up in and not some Mad Max/ Escape from New York looking wasteland
Compton reminds me of Hialeah Florida sort of.

The ideal way to do a hit is to have it done by a street punk and make it look like a robbery gone bad.The kid who killed Jordan's Dad could not even read or write -- he had ZERO education and an IQ of about 85. Jordan's Dad, embarked on a journey of several hundred miles, by complete chance pulled over in the kid's neighborhood because he was tired from too much driving (the possibility exists that he had had some beers, I suppose, but, if so, I never saw any evidence presented). The dirt poor killer and his dirt poor buddy happened upon a brand new, $60,000 purple and beige Lexus and decided to rip off the old black man asleep behind the wheel. Being ignorant sociopaths they decided to kill him as well. They had no idea who he was. It's as simple as that.
No mafioso out to collect a debt from Michael Jordan put out a hit on his old man. To suggest such a thing is tantamount to blaming Jordan for his father's death. That's not an accusation I would make lightly if I had absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back it up.

King,
Those are potato guns! You stick the barrel into a raw potato about 1/2", and you end up with a plug of raw potato in it. Then you can pull the trigger and air pressure from a piston shoots the plug of raw spud at your unsuspecting victim.

took the mother's maiden name. In my experience, there are only one or two reasons young women do that and they are not pretty. What are the reasons?

THe sister was visiting Compton; apparently she owned a beauty salon in Corona.

Either they are raving feminists who detest men or, more commonly, they have been severely mistreated by the father emotionally or physically. You know, it is pretty extreme, to wipe the father out of your name. Abuse victims frequently do that.

You still need to apologize to me or to tell me what lies I told.
Maybe this latest twist in the Kobe Bryant case which involves A HIGH PROFILE ENTERTAINER, A CONTRACT MURDER AND THE RUSSIAN MAFIA, will help you see things with a little more of an open mind, rather than just calling people liars without any basis for that.

How many people have you demanded an apology from? Hello?
I see beckett was wise enough to not reply to your odd, rather unbalanced ravings. So, not finding any grist for your tedious mill, you moved on to needling others on other threads.
Isn't there some gardening or knitting that you could be doing? Isn't it better to do something useful instead of making yourself a pariah?
