September 13, 2003 -- An Army special forces soldier who shook hands with President Bush last year while he was being honored for his role in the war on terror was killed in Iraq yesterday.

Master Sgt. Kevin Morehead, 33, was one of two U.S. soldiers killed in a pre-dawn firefight in the town of Ramadi, officials said.

Particularly our immediate past, draft dodging, president

Air National Guard service in Florida may not have been front line duty during the Vietnam War but it was at least something more than some other politicians have done for our country. You should speak of our cammander in chief with the respect due his office.

What a horrible thing to say - there are many Democrat soldiers for pete's sake. Prayers to this family and thank you for the ultimate sacrifice - God be with you.

You should read my post again, and this time, since you don't seem too familiar with the english language, I'll try to explain.

"Immediate past" refers to the past president of the United States. His name was William Jefferson Clinton, and he famously dodged the draft. He may have more appropriately been called a "cammader in chief" than, say, our current president, George W. Bush, who did serve in the reserves, or ANG as a fighter pilot.

Did I leave anything out?

Not much, but when I was in an arabic speaking country, on active duty with the United States Military, I spent a good deal of time trying to learn the language. For the most part, the english language has served me well for the past 65 years in this country. That, however, was not my point. You failed to understand what I said in my post. I don't find it necessary to resort to another language to explain something that occured in my language. Capish?

I am truly sorry. I thought you were ragging on Bush for his lack of enthusiasm for military service during Vietnam.

Thank you for your service to our country. I too am a vet. I like vets and shun draft dodgers of any political persuasion.

God bless your husband's heroic soul. God be with you and your family at this most difficult time.
I will say a prayer to Master Sgt Kevin Morehead to thank him for his bravery, service to his country, and patriotism.
It's because of him, and the likes of him, that we can live free....

Before the Toby Keith, Darrel Worley, Alan Jackson and Charlie Daniels songs there was Billy Ray Cyrus. Billy Ray recorded this song years before 911.

Some Gave All

I knew a man, called him Sandy Cane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero, yes was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free
I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cried
As he said these words to me

All Gave Some, Some Gave All
Some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some Gave All

Now Sandy Cane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo throughout our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood their ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man
Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died
America can't you see?

All Gave Some, Some Gave All
Some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some Gave All

And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Yes recall
Some Gave All
Some Gave All

How can I ever express my sympathy to you, and my gratitude to you and your late husband?

You have our support here and across America. Because of your husband, another child will grow up free of a tyrant intent on oppressing others; because of your husband, we are free to live our daily lives here in this grateful nation; because of your husband, others will gain the strength to continue the fight for freedom.

Freedom is not free, but it still breaks my heart to know of your loss.

God Bless you, dear one. May he grant you strength and peace.
